The Asian Poker Tour is pleased to announce its return to Taiwan with a full-blown festival to be staged later this year. In partnership with the Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Club aka CTP Club, the upcoming APT Taiwan 2022 is set to run from September 27 to October 5 in Taipei City. Stay tuned as details will soon be released.
One year before the global health crisis put a halt to live poker, Taiwan became one of the APT’s newest and most popular destinations. Not only were players raving about its location, which is just a quick jump from places such as Hong Kong, China, Philippines, Japan, and Korea, players also raved at the fast emergence of Taiwan’s young and vibrant poker market. This was clearly evident on the APT’s inaugural visit in February 2019 when the tour smashed numerous records, and paid out nearly US$ 2.2 Million, its largest festival prize pool to date.
The APT has hosted a total of four festivals in Taiwan with Main Event winners hailing from varying nations: Cliff Chow (Hong Kong), Zong Chi He (Taiwan), Zhou Yueyang (China), and Hamish Crawshaw (New Zealand). A year into the pandemic, another one was held despite border closures on foreign travelers. Well known Taiwanese pro Kitty Kuo claimed the victory.
*At this time, Taiwan borders remain closed however there is news that gradual re-opening is being discussed.
