APT Taichung Special Event: 34 players into Day 2; Bo Jie Zhang tops Day 1B

The last starting day of the APT Taichung Special Event filled the tables of CTP Club Taichung as 81 entrants battled for a spot in the next heat. At bagging time, only 18 were left. Collecting the largest pile was Bo Jie Zhang with 422,000 stacked. This placed Zhang third overall entering Day 2. Day 1A chip leader Ruei Jiun Liang  maintained the top spot with a massive 784,000 stack and Kuan Hao Ching in second position with 484,000.

Also advancing to the next round were Chi Jen Chu and APT Player of the Series winner Kun Han Lee. Lee has been on fire at the series with two titles under his belt. His first win was at the series opener APT Taichung Mini Main Event and he is currently running fourth in total winnings.

The APT Taichung Special Event is the last event of the APT Taiwan 2021 festival. It attracted a combined 152 entries across two starting days to exceed the NT$ 1 million guarantee for a larger NT$ 1,253,200 (~US$ 44,960) prize pool. The remaining 34 players return to the tables on Sunday, March 14 where they will race to reach the money which starts at 16th place, and a seat at the final table of 9. The eventual winner is looking to pocket a cool NT$ 334,000 (~US$ 12,000) and will also claim the last APT Golden Lion Trophy of the series, a luxury watch, and a CTP Championship Series Pass worth NT$ 25,000.

A quick flashback of the series so far…. APT Taiwan 2021 kicked off on February 19 at CTP Club Taichung with the APT Taichung Mini Main Event setting the pace. Kun Han Lee shipped it to become the first champion. The series then moved to CTP Club Taipei where a loaded schedule of 19 games played out. Walking away the richest was APT Main Event champion Hui Chen “Kitty” Kuo followed by Ping Hao Huang who cashed in five events including a win at the Championships Event. The tour’s most distinguished APT Player of the Series title went to Kun Han Lee.
