APT MAIN EVENT: Yonghyun Yoo bags the chip lead at Day 1A; chip counts inside

Opening day of the PHP 10 million guaranteed (~USD 192,000) MAIN EVENT was the hottest ticket today with 148 runners eager to contribute the PHP 55,000 (~USD 1,100) buy-in. This was the first starting day of the APT Philippines II 21019 featured event taking place at Resorts World Manila’s new Grand Wing.   

Throughout the day, APT decorated champions were scattered around the room. Among them were: 

Christopher Mateo (APT Philippines I 2019 Main Event defending champion)
Siyoung Lee (APT Philippines I 2019 Championships Event champion)
Go Saito (APT Korea-Seoul 2019 Main Event champion)
Tetsuya Tsuchikawa (APT Vietnam 2018 Main Event champion)
Gyeong Byeong Lee (APT Experience 2016 Manila Main Event champion)
John Tech (APT Asian Series Cebu 2015 Main Event champion)

At the end of the scheduled 9 levels of play, 62 players remained with only a few of the champs through to the next round. Closing the heat as chip leader was Korea’s Yonghyun Yoo with 152,600. Yoo is the player to measure up to for Day 1B players. Breathing down Yoo’s neck was Canada’s Arvhin Malinab with 147,000.
