The Asian Poker Tour is back in the gambling capital of the East and this time we have teamed up with the Macau Billionaire Poker group for our latest event, the APT Macau 2017. The event runs for a total of nine days starting Wednesday June 14th until its conclusion on Thursday June 22nd. There are a total of 18 events on the roster, broken down as follows – APT Main Event, Super High Rollers (special event), and 16 side events.
All the action will take place at the MBP’s own poker room located on the top floor of the Babylon Casino at the Macau Fisherman’s Wharf. Action kicks off today, so make sure you have your poker appetite ready as we have a lot to fill your plate with throughout the series.
APT Macau 2017 Main Event
The highlight event, the one that everyone wants to champion, is the HKD 19,800 buy-in No Limit Hold’em Tournament, aka the APT Macau Main Event. This event will be hitting the floor on the weekend and will run a course of five days. This is the only event where you can win the exclusive APT Championship Ring. Here’s a look at the schedule:
Day 1a – Saturday, June 17th
Day 1b – Sunday, June 18th
Day 2 – Monday, June 19th
Day 3 – Tuesday, June 20th
Final 8 – Wednesday, June 21st
Opening Event HKD 300,000 Guaranteed
With the Main Event still days away, the APT Macau 2017 kicks off its festivities with the Opening Event HKD 300,000 Guaranteed. This is the only event in the lineup that offers a guarantee. Buy-in is HKD2,200 with two starting options, Flight A at 1pm and Flight B at 5pm.
This event is definitely the way to go to get some early practice in and test your skills against other players. It is also one of the most popular events offered with everyone gunning for that first big payout. All players begin with a 15,000 stack (that’s 300x the starting big blind) with blinds escalating every 30 minutes. Keep in mind, this is a two-day event with the first day of play paused at the end of 13 rounds.
Super High Roller (Special Event)
While the APT may not usually offer incredibly big buy-in events, the HKD 200,000 buy-in Super High Roller event still has a place in the APT roster. In the past, the APT has hosted a number of these high caliber events with top notched pros from all over the world in attendance. However, after dropping in popularity, the event was temporarily removed from the lineup. A few years ago, this event has been making a major comeback which has now led to its return in our APT schedule. This event is at the tail end of the festival running for two days starting Wednesday June 21st.
Main Event Warm-Up
The Main Event Warm-Up is the second side event of the APT Macau 2017 with players getting a feel of what the Main Event structure has to offer. Players begin with a deep starting stack of 50,000 with opening blinds at 100-200 however the difference between the two structures is the blinds duration with the warm up escalating much faster at 30 minutes per round. Buy-in is HKD 7,700. Event begins tomorrow, Thursday June 15th at 1pm.
High Rollers event
Apart from the Super High Roller (special event), we also have a High Rollers event. Among all our side events, this one has the largest buy-in of HKD 33,000. One thing that makes this event quite enticing is the small field combined with the juicy prize pool. The structure is also one to be desired; players begin with a deep 40,000 stack (200x the opening big blind) with blind increasing every 40 minutes. Action begins on Friday June 16th with play scheduled to run for two days.
The rest of the tournaments on the schedule are well known APT signature side events such as the Head Hunter 1,000 Bounty, the Monster Stack, several Deep Stack Turbos, plus a mix of other No Limit Hold’em structured events.
With that said, we’d like to say good morning to everyone and welcome to the APT Macau 2017!
See you at the tables!
Macau Billionaire Poker room
The Macau Billionaire Poker room is situated on the top floor of the Babylon Casino within a huge circular domed ceiling room complete with blue lighting to mimic the skies and twelve pillared zodiac sculptures to showcase the Babylon style and architecture motif. The MBP room seats up to 25 tournament tables all running along the sides while games such as Baccarat, Roulette, Sic Bo, and other usual table games are offered in the center. If players find themselves in need of coffee, tea, soup, or a bite to eat, there is a café/restaurant as well, the Amyitis Gourmet Restaurant.
The casino itself is located on Macau Fisherman’s Wharf, one of the more upscale yet quieter areas where everyone can enjoy all the thrill of Macau without having to be in the hustle and bustle of the city.
