After a fun filled nine days in the gambling hub of the east, the Asian Poker Tour wrapped up its latest festival, the APT Macau 2017. The event was held at the Macau Billionaire Poker room in Babylon Casino, and it was the first-ever collaboration between the APT and MBP. Nonstop poker action took place from June 14th – June 22nd with a HKD 19,800 entry APT Main Event headliner plus a total of sixteen APT signature side events.
Now that all the event trophies have been claimed, it’s time to take a look at all the top stories, the big winners, and the final results of the APT Player of the Series race.

Malaysia’s Choong Kian Weng is the newest APT Main Event champion
The APT Main Event crowned its newest champion, Malaysia’s Choong Kian Weng. Weng outlasted a field of 118 entries to ship in the largest payout of the series, the HKD 521,000 first prize. Weng tore through the field at nearly every qualifying round and was invincible at the final heads up battle against Vietnam’s Dang Van Hien. This was his first APT Main Event title and undeniably, it was very well-deserved. Live Updates here.
Japan’s Kosei Ichinose wins the High Rollers
Another big payout was at the High Rollers event with 20 highly decorated players in attendance. Freezing Vietnamese pro Linh Tran in his place during the heads up round was Japanese pro Kosei Ichinose who had a very strong inkling it was his game to win. And he was most certainly right. Ichinose won the HKD 248,000 first prize. Days later, he also ran deep at the Monster Stack event, finishing up in 3rd place.
Zurvan Tumboli opens up the series with a victory for India
There were quite a number of players from India performing very well at the series. One of them was Zurvan Tumboli who immediately took down the Opening Event 300K Guaranteed. Tumboli also cashed at the APT Main Event for his 12th place berth, and at the final event of the series, the Deep Stack Hyper Turbo, Tumboli lasted all the way to 3rd place. In total, he pocketed a cool six figures HKD 128,900.
