PASAY CITY, Philippines – From 79 entries in Day 1A of the Asian Poker Tour (APT) Championship Event, 35 marched on to Day 2 led by Jayden Zalac of Australia as the action continued in the APT 2022 Philippines here at the Grand Wing Casino, Newport World Resorts.
With a guaranteed prize pool of PhP10M (US$175,270.00), Day 1B will be the final qualifier with Day 2 still accommodating the PhP82,500.00 (US$1,446.00) until the end of its first two levels.
Zalac, who is looking for his first cash outside of his home country, currently has 254,500 in chips while Great Britain’s Mike Allen–who has cashed in his last two events here–sits at second with 253,000. Kim Donghyun of Korea is third with 252,000 with the highest ranked Filipino being Edwin de Guzman in eighth with holdings of 168,500.
Day 1B commences tomorrow (September 15th) at exactly 1:00PM (UCT+8). Day 2 will once again have Featured Table Livestream with veteran international sports anchor Noel Zarate joined by Canada’s Greg Liow of “Greg Goes All In” with a few special guests slated.
Meanwhile, India finally took down a title when Mumbai native Jasven Saigal emerged victorious in (Event #13) the 2-day NLH by outlasting Hong Kong’s Wai Chiu Cheng in the finale that was played out at the TV Table.
Saigal pocketed PhP532,300.00 (US$9,327.00) and this victory marks his second in the APT as he also won the 6-Handed in APT Manila way back in 2013.
Wai got PhP354,800.00 (US$6,216.00) for his second place while third went to Korea’s Lee Duhan for PhP246,700.00 (US$4,321.00).
In the nightcap, it was an all Japan affair as Yosuke Nakazawa defeated Daisuke Kurakami for the crown in (Event #15) the Single-Day NLH and snared the PhP334,500.00 (US$5,8,59.00) top prize. Kurakami got PhP222,900.00 (US$3,905.00) while local bet Czar Ian Marcos got third for PhP155,000.00 (US$2,715.00).
Action resumes tomorrow (September 15th) with Day 1B of the APT Championship while (Event #16) the Super Deep Stack Turbo commences at 2:00PM and (Event #17) the Deep Stack Hyper-Turbo takes off at 5:00PM.
The much-awaited APT Players’ Party also happens later in the evening at the Entertainment Area of the Grand Wing Casino.
