INCHEON CITY, Korea – Who will be joining the 85 players that have already advanced to Day 2 of the Asian Poker Tour (APT) Korea Incheon 2022 Main Event? That question will be answered when the final full day of qualification happens as Day 1C commences at the Paradise City Hotel and Casino here.
The competition begins at 1:00PM (UCT+9).
With 165 entries already in the books, the guaranteed prize pool has soared to over KRW320M (US$223,113) from its original KRW300M (US$208,635) and traditionally Day 1C brings the biggest influx of aspirants so the APT Korea regular staging record of 236 set in 2019 could be under threat.
The current chip-leader is Japan’s Shun Tsukuda from Day 1B that logged 107 entries. He dislodged fellow Japanese player (and Mystery Bounty champion) Kono Reiji from the top of the leaderboard after dominating in Day 1A.
In all, the contingent from Japan have only lost twice in seven events played thus far.
Meanwhile, the much awaited (Event #8) Deep Stack Turbo (DST) as well as the third installment of the KRW3.2M (US$2,237) single-day High-Rollers (Event #9) also unfold today alongside Day 1C.
So far the Japanese are 3-for-3 in High-Rollers and look to continue that trend, although the players from Taiwan are making inroads in this discipline.
For the DST, Kim Jeong Hyun is the defending champion from APT Korea X while another Japanese campaigner in Nobuhito Ogo last won the Incheon tiff in 2019.
