It is opening day at the Asian Poker Tour Philippines 2016 with the $50,000 Guaranteed Opening Event off to a booming start. At 1pm, the tables quickly filled up at the poker room of Resorts World Manila, and by the end of Flight A late registration, there were 149 entries in the books.
Time and time again the Opening Event has proven to be very popular that most often it has surpassed the guarantee. The buy-in is $275 with unlimited re-entry until the end of round six. Players get ample playing time with a very deep 15,000 starting stack (that’s 300x the starting big blind), and 30 minute blind levels. Day one regulation play wraps up at the end of round 13 and resumes its final day tomorrow.
Some notables and regulars at the felt for Flight A are Tetsuya Tsuchikawa, SJ Kim, Kimura Lee Jong Yeol, Lester Edoc, Michael Kim Falcon, Gerard Mark Bringley, Kai Paulsen, John Kim, Byeongcheol Kim, John Bonanno, Mike Takayama, John Tech, Linh Tran, Jessie Leonarez, Nick Blackburn, and Simba Jae Kyung.
For those looking to participate in the Opening Event, you’ll be happy to know that Flight B has just kicked off moments ago. Late registration is open for three hours so head to the registration booth and get in the game. Taking a glance at the early action there, Thailand’s Thong Botho is at the felt. Botho was the first player to ever win the APT Championship Ring back in January at the APT Kickoff 2016 Main Event. Another player also seen at the table is Filipino player Joven Huerto who won the APT Finale 2015 Main Event.
Main Event Mega Satellite
With the Main Event just days away, there is a Main Event Mega Satellite at 6pm with a buy-in of $330. This is a cheap and affordable way to earn a seat worth $3,300 and possibly turn it into big wads of cash overflowing the wallet. This is the first of four mega satellites offered in the schedule.
