MAIN EVENT Day 2: Francis Garson bags the chip lead; 50 remain, 13 to the money

APT Kick-off Vietnam 2020 held Day 2 of the featured VND 8 billion guaranteed Main Event. 140 qualifiers out of the 328 entrants returned to partner venue Pro Poker Club. With registration open one last hour, another 37 joined the action bringing the total entries to 365. 

Day 2 closed with 50 players remaining. Frenchman Francis Garson drove his stack north to 430,500 to earn him the chip leader status. He enters the next heat with 86 bbs. Unfortunately we weren’t able to catch any of Garson’s winning moments however we will be on the lookout coming Day 3.

Racking up the second largest stack was also another Frenchman, Antoine Follet, with 423,000. Follet shipped all of Kaki Kudo’s chips on the last hand with a lucky set on the river.

And to round out the top three was Rayhaan Adam who brought in 419,000 after railing APT decorated champion Tetsuya Tsuchikawa. Adam was a force to reckon with all day and at one point hit the 500k marker.

The day’s survivors resume at 1pm on Thursday, January 16. They race to the money – 37 places – then to a seat to the Final 8 Day. Minimum payout is VND 41,950,00 (~US$ 1,800). The top prize is VND 1,731,440,000 (~US$ 74,600). You can follow the action via our Day 3 live posts
