Championships Event: Masaki Fujitani bags the lead at Day 1B; 60 players into Day 2; last hour to register

Day 1B is in the books! The final starting day of the APT Korea Seoul 2019 – CHAMPIONSHIPS EVENT saw tables fill up at Grand Walkerhill Paradise Casino with players hungry for a piece of the KRW 180 Million guarantee. Sitting up top at bagging time was Japan’s Masaki Fujitani with 207,100 in chips. This was good enough for him to take second rank entering Day 2.

Exactly one year ago, Masaki placed 5th at his very first APT Main Event appearance right here at the same venue. Since then, he has been a regular at the tour. Several days ago, he finished 12th at this series Main Event.  

Just below the Day 1B leader was USA’s Andrew An with 180,000 in chips. An has cashed at the APT multiple times throughout his career including a 17th place finish at the Main Event back in December 2017 in Macau. Rounding out the top three was USA’s Daniel Lee with 175,000 in chips. Also advancing was USA’s Jaepil Geoffrey You with 35,200 bagged. You was one of the few APT decorated champions in the combined Day 2 lineup, he also cashed in 6th place at the festival’s Main Event.

Coming Day 2, a total of 60 players return to the scene. Bringing in the largest stack of 240,000 is still Day 1A chip leader, China’s Peng Meng Dian. 

The combined starting days drew 102 entries at KRW 1,980,000 buy-in each. Late-comers still have a chance to get in on this brewing pot and become the first Championships Event winner of APT Korea Seoul. The KRW 180 Million guarantee will definitely be exceeded with one final hour in Day 2 to join. Registration closes at the start of Level 10. Cards in the air at 1pm.
