Savage Returns as Tournament Director for APT Macau 2010

One of the most popular and prestigious poker events in Asia is all set to happen next month; so it’s only apt that one of the most sought after and most respected tournament directors in the poker world returns at the helm for the big event.

Matt Savage has officially been named by the Asian Poker Tour (APT) as the tournament director for the upcoming APT Macau 2010 event set on November 6-14 later this year to be held at the Hard Rock Hotel at the City of Dreams in Macau.

The most in-demand tournament director in the world in action during last year's APT Macau.

Savage has worked for the APT in the last three years serving as the tournament director in several legs including stops in Macau and the Philippines.

Earlier this year, he was signed by the World Poker Tour (WPT) as its Executive Tour Director, a position which placed Savage as the liaison between the organization and the players; and was tasked to improve areas such as communication, tournament offerings, tour cohesiveness and general growth of the brand.

In 2001, he co-founded the Tournament Directors Association, an organization that works to standardize poker tournament rules worldwide. In 2003, he was the inaugural inductee into the Poker Room Manager’s Hall of Fame and was nominated for induction into the Poker Hall of Fame in 2009.

The American remains as tournament director at Commerce Casino, which is the world’s largest poker room and at his hometown casino Bay 101 in San Jose, California.
