PokerAce, the leader in developing poker and poker players in the Asia-Pacific region, has started its search for the first “Poker Hero Asia”, a program that aims to identify Asia’s next best poker prospect and then reward him/her with a tremendous package valued at around $30,000.
The said prize includes $20,000 worth of tournament buy-ins for Asian Poker Tour (APT) events and $10,000 for travel and expenses during these events. More importantly, the winner of Poker Hero Asia will be featured alongside PokerAce ambassadors Joe Hachem, JC Tran, Nam Le and Steve Gee in the PokerAce website and will be part of the team representing PokerAce traveling the Asian poker circuit for the duration of the 12-month contract.
Hopefuls will have a double-barrel of a chance to get a shot at becoming a pro. First, they can qualify online via PokerAce with daily freerolls or $1 qualifiers. Second, they can make the grade live via 2014 APT events that will award Poker Hero Asia points which in turn helps their standings in the Poker Hero Leaderboard.
At the end of the APT season, the player atop the leaderboard will win a seat in the Poker Hero Asia final and will be pitted against the online qualifiers. The ultimate winner of this 7-handed final table—six online qualifiers and 1 APT qualifier– will then bag the Poker Hero Asia title.
The promotion is open to players coming from these countries: China, Japan, South Korea, Macau, Mongolia, South Asia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, South East Asia, Brunei, Burma, Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Oceania, Australia and New Zealand.
