Table Breaking

The breaking order of tables in a tournament is something that is announced before the start of play and at the restart of a new day. Usually the Asian Poker Tour will break down the tables in the room starting from the highest numbered table to the lowest numbered table. It is good to know that the breaking order in the tournament you are playing is fair. Imagine being in a tournament where an unscrupulous Tournament Director gets to pick any table he or she wishes to break. They may have a really good friend in as the chip leader on a really soft table and could just keep that table last in the breaking order to insure the comfort zone of their friend. As a player, paying attention to what the breaking order is will also let you put together a strategy on how to play your table. The knowledge that you will be playing with the same set of people for a period of time could be used to your advantage. So, when you play in your next APT tournament, ask what the breaking order is or listen for the breaking order announcement in order to map out your game plan! APT is going back to Cebu on February 1 – 7, 2012. Click here to check out the event schedule.
