What kind of tournament do I enter?

The most popular poker game nowadays is, of course, No Limit Texas Hold’em, but there is an array of different types of events and buy-in levels within this format that you can play at the Asian Poker Tour tournaments. This tip will explain the type of events we have at the APT so you know your options beforehand.

Freezeout:
Once you have lost all your chips at any point during this type of event you are eliminated from the tournament.

Re-buy and Add-on:
Re-buys are defined as an option to stay in the tournament even if you have lost all your chips within the re-buy period (up to the end of the first break). Re-buys can also be done at any time during this period, including at the very start of the tournament, if a player has chips equal to or less than the starting stack. A double re-buy is also an option if you are unfortunate enough to lose all your chips. The add-on occurs during the first break for the same price as a re-buy and can only be done one time during this period regardless of how many chips you have (as long as you were dealt into the last hand before the break). As an incentive, the amount of chips you get for an add-on is significantly more that the amount of chips you get for a re-buy. After the re-buy and add-on period the tournament reverts to a freeze out.

Re-entry:
Players who are eliminated from this event may re-enter the tournament and will be considered as a new player by paying the buy-in amount again. Here they get to re-draw for a new table and seat number and also receive a full stack of chips. For the APT we have two types of re-entry events: same day re-entry, where you are allowed to re-enter up to the end of the first break; and day to day re-enter, where you can only re-enter on another starting day.
