HomeThe past two days of the Asian Poker Tour Experience Manila 2016 held at the APT Poker Room located in the Waterfront Manila Pavilion Hotel and Casino brought in a combined total of 127 entries for the P55,000 entry Main Event for a prize pool of P6,159,000. There were a total of 58 players who qualified into Day 2 with Korea’s Gyeong Byeong Lee bagging up the largest stack of 128,450 chips. Lee amassed his stack at Day 1a.
Today’s Main Event returnees will play another eight rounds or to the money stage of 18 players, depending on which one is first reached. Among those in attendance are 23 players who availed of the Main Event Bubble Protection. There are also a number of previous APT champions in the field such as Norway’s Henrik Tollefsen, Korea’s Jeon Seung Soo, Canada’s Linh Tran, Japan’s Tetsuya Tsuchikawa, Filipino John Tech, and New Zealand’s Paul Hockin.
While that is underway, there will be two side events for other players to look forward to, the Pot Limit Omaha Hi event at 2pm with a buy-in of P11,000, and then at 6pm, the WeLoveSport Deep Stack Turbo event with a buy-in of P5,500.
Side Event Results
NLH 1 Day Event Champion, Yah Loon Lim
At yesterday’s side events, there were 34 entries to the No Limit Hold ‘em 1 Day event generating a prize pool of P494,700. With six players remaining and only five of them getting some wad for their wallet, Canada’s Linh Tran and Filipino’s Anthony Gabitan split the fifth place payout with both of them getting railed simultaneously while holding the exact same number of chips. Among the four remaining players, it was Singapore’s Lim Yah Loon who came out on top to claim his second side event trophy of the festival. Loon earned P197,900 for another impressive victory.
Deep Stack Turbo Champion, Fred Fauchereau
The first of the highly popular Deep Stack Turbo events also took place took place last night with 79 entries each paying up the P5,500 entry fee. The prize pool grew to P383,100 with the top ten players cashing in. After Malaysia’s Sim Kok Wai was eliminated as the bubble, two Korean players quickly followed to the rail, and everyone was moved to the RFID featured table. From there, Filipino Emmanuel Segismundo sent two players packing with his set of kings, and amassed a nice big stack. Japan’s Tetsuya Tsuchikawa was out two hands after, and then another two players were eliminated within minutes of each other. At three-handed, Segismundo had the largest stack but seemed to have a difficult time eliminating his opponents. He doubled up Filipino player Joseph Sia twice, and once to Frenchman Fred Fauchereau. Sia eventually fell in 3rd place when his J♦ 4♦ shove was a dud against Fauchereau’s 9♣ 9♠. At heads up, Segismundo had a slight chip advantage, but was overtaken when his A♦ 2♣ doubled up Fauchereau’s K♣ 4♣ on a board that ran Q♠ 4♠ J♠ 4♥ 5♦. When both players evened up, they struck a deal, and soon the winning hand was dealt with Fauchereau defeating Segismundo with his A♥ J♠ against Q♣ 5♥ on a board of 2♠ 6♥ K♠ 7♦ 7♥. Fauchereau claimed P91,800 for his first place finish and the event trophy.
