The mighty lion belted out a gigantic roar today at APT Philippines 2019 bringing in a massive pride to Resorts World Manila. In the aftermath, MAIN EVENT Day 1B produced a full house with 305 entries in action. This starting day alone demolished the advertised P10 Million guarantee. At the end of the scheduled 8 rounds the field trimmed down to 167 players.
Scattered around the room were a high number of new faces bumping elbows with notable players. APT decorated champions were of course among them such as multi champions Lester Edoc and Samad Razavi. Others were Linh Tran, Tetsuya Tsuchikawa, Geyong Byeong Lee, Joven Huerto, and APT Tokyo Japan 2019 winner Kannapong Thanarattrakul. All of them advanced to Day 2.
Ending Day 1B as chip leader was Singapore’s Alex Lee with 152,600. Lee was already ahead in the count at the start of the last level of play and further secured it by snapping off a player’s river bluff attempt on a board K♠ J♥ 5♥ 6♣ 5♠. Lee held A♥ 6♥ to burn Q♦ 10♣. Lee will enter Day 2 as the overall chip leader.
Today’s 167 survivors merge with the 56 players of Day 1A.
Day 2 will see a combined 223 players head back. Action takes place on Sunday, April 28 starting at 1pm.
