We now enter the fifth day of APT Kickoff 2019 here at Pro Poker Club in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The festival has been running since January 9 and will conclude on January 20. For the past three days, the MAIN EVENT has been heating things up with 558 in combined entries. The guarantee was easily surpassed. Players are now looking at a more lucrative prize pool well over VND 10 Million. So for all you bystanders, remember you can still jump in today however registration closes at the first deal at exactly 1pm.

Here’s a look at the numbers:

Main Event Day 1A: 105 entries – 42 advanced 
Main Event Day 1B: 152 entries – 63 advanced
Main Event Day 1C: 301 entries – 145 advanced

Main Event Day 2 will see the return of 250 players. That means both top and bottom floors of the poker room will be buzzing. They will play a total of 8 levels.

At the helm is Day 1C leader Mai Te with 198,400 in chips followed by Day 1B leader, Quang Nguyen with 164,000. Several APT major champions will also be taking seats such as Huu Dung Nguyen, SJ Kim, Iori Yogo, Lim Yohwan, Cao Ngoc Anh, and defending champion, Tetsuya Tsuchikawa.

For those just entering, your buy-in of VND 22,000,000 gets you a 25,000 stack. The APT utilizes the Ante Big Blind format.

  1. The “ANTE BB” format utilizes the ante first rule before the big blind. This rule applies in the event that the big blind player cannot cover the full amount of both the ANTE and BB.
  2. The “ANTE BB” structure remains the same regardless of the number of players at a table

A new pay table has also been introduced with 10% of the field paid and larger cash prizes to the top three finishers.

Kiat Lee wins the NLH Single Day 2

Last night, another side event champion emerged with Malaysia’s Kiat Lee awarded the NLH Single Day 2 title. Lee bested a field of 105 entries.

At three handed, the shortest stacked Lee struck an ICM deal with the other two players that left VND 12 Million and the trophy up for grabs. The determined Lee steered his way to the chip lead and eliminated Jeonggyu Cho in 3rd place. This left him up against Vinh Tran who opted to just hand him the trophy and split the remaining pot.
