The APT Asian Poker Series Cebu 2015 took flight Tuesday with 247 runners joining the 1M Guaranteed Opening Event to create a prize pool of PHP 1.677 million for the side event in this APT stop.
From two start times, Flight A at 1:00 PM and Flight B at 6:00 PM, a total of 63 survivors remained in the field and will return Wednesday (August 12) at 1:30 PM to battle for the side event title and the PHP 419,600 purse for the champion or at least one of the 27 ITM spots.
Leading the pack is Kim Enriquez, who hails from Cebu, with 163,200 in chips. Not far behind are Marv Damon (United States) with 156,900; Robin Caprin (France) with 154,700; Martin Corpuz (United States) with 142,500 and Angel Kabigting (Philippines) with 136,100 to complete the top five.
Also with a good haul after the first day—all with over the century mark in chips– are John Jim Kim (120,200), Jestoni Pancho (110,900), Seitaro Aso (104,100) and Delfin Ty (101,000).
A few notable players are still in the running for the 1M guaranteed title including three-time APT Player of the Year Sam Razavi (57,400); Jason Powers (72,200); Jun Funabashi (70,100); Tetsuya Tsuchikawa (55,900); Michael Tchong (49,970); Mike Takayama (49,200); and Ian Brion (47,000), among others.
Two more side events are on tap in the second day of the poker festivities in Cebu; the No Limit Hold’em Re-Buy + 1 Add-On (PHP 3,300 buy-in) and the Ante Up for Charity (PHP 7,500) events set at 1:00 PM and 6:00 PM, respectively.
APT will donate a part of the collected prize pool in the charity event to the Cebu City Task Force on Street Children, a non-profit organization that provides educational and residential assistance to Cebu City’s street children. Proceeds of the APT charity event will help in the food expenses of the children staying in the center.
