21 survive Championships Event Day 2; Yuto Hishikawa and Enrico De Rosa top the counts

Day 2 of the APT Philippines 2022 – CHAMPIONSHIPS EVENT – saw another 31 runners cough up the Php 82,500 buy in for a grand total of 162 entries. This sent the pot surging way past the guarantee for a very rich Php 11,785,500 prize pool. After the scheduled eight rounds of play, 21 survived the heat with the money just four spots away. Coming out on top was Japan’s Yuto Hishikawa with 765,000 in chips and at his heels was Italy’s Enrico De Rosa with 747,000. Both players were seated at the same table throughout the day and both were bulldozers, cleaning out multiple players. You can read up on the action via our Live Updates.

Also making it through were series Main Event 6th placer Moses Saquing who amassed the third largest stack, Single Day High Rollers winner Ahmed Ibrahimi, New Zealand pro Thomas Ward, and APT decorated champion Feng Zhao. When they return on Saturday, May 7, they will be gunning for a piece of the juicy pot and a Final 8 seat. Cards in the air at 1pm. Blinds open at Level 17: 4k-8k-8k BB Ante. Live updates will be running throughout.

The day didn’t fare well for other decorated champions. Among the fallen were Mike Takayama, Lester Edoc, Christopher Mateo, Jeorge Lagatuz, newly crowned Main Event champion Renniel Galvez, and the heat’s entering chip leader Henrik Tollefsen who busted on a cooler.
