Big day at APT Philippines 2019 with the poker area of host venue Resorts World Manila filled to capacity. A large section of the floor was taken over by the featured CHAMPIONSHIPS EVENT attracting a large 179 entries.
At the end of the scheduled 8 rounds, 100 remained. Filipino Ivan Tabucal finished high up top with a massive 323,700 in chips. This more than earned him overall leadership entering Day 2.
Tabucal was the only player to cross into the 300k marker. Players immediately down the rung were nowhere near his stack. In second rank was Japan’s Yusuke RD Okada with 216,800, and to round out the top three was China’s Tao Gang with 212,900.
Several decorated APT major titleholders also advancing were Alexis Lim (153,800), Kannapong Thanarattrakul (120,200), Henrik Tollefsen (95,400), John Tech (95,100), Tetsuya Tsuchikawa (67,500), Takumi Samejima (62,700), Soo Jo Kim (62,300), Mikiya Kudo (50,200), and Iori Yogo (19,700).
The 100 Day 1B survivors merge with the 48 players of Day 1A. Day 2 takes place on Friday, May 3 at 1pm. Registration is open for one more hour. There are currently 275 entries and with each one ponying up the P82,500 buy-in, the prize pool is already double the advertised P10M guarantee. Official numbers will be released once the freezeout stage begins.
