The first day of the APT Asian Series Cambodia 2014 saw an impressive 87 entries in the Welcome to APT event along with the Ante Up for Charity tournament for Let Us Create, a non-profit organization aimed at reaching out to an underprivileged community in Sihanoukville, Cambodia.
Well-known high stakes player David Steicke kicked off his run in Cambodia by taking down the Ante Up for Charity. Along with a third of the prize pool to be donated, Steicke added US$ 1,000 of his winnings from the tournament to make the donation up to US$2,300.
While in the opening Welcome to APT tournament, Hun Sokmeng was the last man standing from the 87-entry field which exceeded expectations by more than a hundred percent.
“With impressive first day player sign-ups and the fact that quite a large contingent of players have arrived yesterday, we are expecting the Main Event to be well supported,” said APT CEO Jeff Mann.
