Main Event resumes with 47 players; Jan Bolotaolo wins the MSW event

47 players return for Main Event Day 2!

Now that both APT Main Event starting flights have completed, Day 2 gets underway at 1pm today with a combined total of 47 players returning to the felt. They will be playing another eight 60-minute rounds or to the money, whichever comes first. The Asian Poker Tour is currently in its sixth day of the APT Kickoff 2017, running from January 11th-19th at Resorts World Manila.

The past two days saw a mix of pros, regulars, and newcomers seated at every Main Event table. The likes of APT POY 2016 champion Iori Yogo, APT POY champion 2012-2015 Samad Razavi, past APT Main Event champions John Tech, Czardy Rivera, Alexis Lim, and pros Julian Hasse, Alex Lee, Kunal Patni, and Terry Gonzaga, were among those back at the tables today.

Holding the torch with the largest stack into Day 2 is Japanese player GACKT with a dominating  474,300 in chips. GACKT earned his towers at Day 1A. Also entering with a massive stack is France’s Benjamin Gonzva who topped Day 1B with 319,000 in chips.

The APT Main Event saw a total of 96 entries, each one ponying up the US$1,650 entry fee. The total prize pool came to US$139,680 with the eventual winner looking at a sweet first place purse of US$38,020. Ten players will be seeing a payout. There are currently 13 players insured with bubble protection.

The MegaSportsWorld Deep Stack Turbo drew in 111 entries for a prize pool of US$10,770. Action was swift with players looking to quickly chip up. After the money round was reached at 18 players, the field continued to downsize in top speed By the time there were ten players left, everyone was short stacked with shoving as the popular option. Outlasting them all was Filipino player Jan Bolotaolo defeating Michael Bueza at the heads up round to claim US$2,507 in winnings.

While the main heats up, more trophies to up for grabs with a couple of side events on tap today. The No Limit Hold’em event starts at 2pm with an entry fee of US$330, and at 6pm, the WeLoveSport Deep Stack Turbo joins the floor with a buy-in of US$110. Eight side event trophies have already been awarded at the festival.
