Asian Poker Tour Philippines 2013

Lady on the river busts Riaz (27th – $5,500)

Level: 16 Blinds: 1500/3000 Ante: 400

Tough on to take says Mr. Abid Riaz.

Still, thanks for being a sport sir for telling us about the bust-out hand:

From the small blind, Riaz bets with the big slick and gets a caller from Pakihal Lisawad and Stephen Chidwick.
Post-flop A 2 10 Chidwick opens to 20,000 and Riaz shoved. Lisawad got out of the way and Chidwick called.

Chidwick showed A Q and Riaz was ahead.

However, while the turn was safe for Riaz the river Q decided otherwise. Riaz becomes our first casualty of the day.

Anh takes some from Westmorland

Level: 16 Blinds: 1500/3000 Ante: 400

Thailand vs. Vietnam in this battle.

We saw Jordan Westmorland (Thailand) in tank mode after Do Hoang Anh shoved his final 25,000+ at the flop 5 7 8.

Jordan eventually got away from this hand giving Anh the small win. Anh recoups some and gets back to around 60,000. Westmorland drops to around 170,000.

Razavi adds a few

Level: 16 Blinds: 1500/3000 Ante: 400

Sam Razavi bet a healthy 21,500 with 5 7 J 3 already boarded. The pot at the middle was quite a healthy one too so his opponent Lawrence Sanjay took his sweet time before making the decision.

The player from India would finally fold to give the nice pot to Razavi, who has now around 90,000 in chips.

Early double-up for Houshiar

Level: 16 Blinds: 1500/3000 Ante: 400

As one of players with a short stack, Homan Houshiar looked to have a good start to have better shot at advancing today.

He just had that after his J J hit its set on the turn against Khack Trung Tran’s Q Q.

Housiar climbs to over 110,000 dropping Tran’s stack to around 200,000.

The Magic Number

Level: 16 Blinds: 1500/3000 Ante: 400

Yesterday’s magic number was 27– that’s the figure to get to ITM and we have those playing in today’s Day 3.

Today the magic number is 8– that’s the figure to get into the Final Table of the Asian Poker Tour (APT) Philippines Main Event.

All of the players battling today are already assured of at least $5,500 but pretty sure all of them want more too especially the champion’s purse of $124,000.
