Chip leaders go at it! Nguyen Tuan Anh vs Paul Hong

Level: 17 Blinds: 4000-8000 Ante: 1000

Nguyen Tuan Anh and Paul Hong are among the biggest stacks in the field with Nguyen clearly the chip leader at 960k. Both of these players went head-to-head in a couple of hands but none as big as this one.

Action kicked off with Nguyen raising to 22k, Wei Chong Yin called from the button, then Paul Hong three-bet to 90k from the small blind. Nguyen called while Yin opted to fold. At the flop J 7 J, Hong c-bet 60k and Nguyen called. On the Q turn, Hong sent another 115k in front and Nguyen answered with a raise to 300k. This sent Hong tanking for quite some time until the clock was called. He folded. Nguyen showed A K bluff. Yin commented that he folded the winning hand, A-J

Nguyen climbed to 1.3M and Hong dropped to 450k.

Yik Yin Chiu eliminated by Cao Ngoc Anh

Level: 17 Blinds: 4000-8000 Ante: 1000

It was a classic race with Yik Yin “Ray” Chiu all in holding J J and Cao Ngoc Anh with A K. The cards fell 3 A 10 4 A for trips to Cao and the bust to Chiu.

Choong Kian Weng picks one up

Level: 17 Blinds: 4000-8000 Ante: 1000

Choong Kian Weng

We haven’t reported much action on Choong Kian Weng. He has been sitting with a short stack for a majority of the rounds but has stepped it up in the final round of the day. One of the hands we caught saw a raised pot brewed preflop and a flop landing 8 7 5. Small blind Choong bet 35k, and big blind called. On the 7 river, Choong fired 80k and won the pot.

Kit Kwan Kwok rails one

Level: 17 Blinds: 4000-8000 Ante: 1000

Kit Kwan Kwok chipped up after railing a player with his pocket kings dominating pocket eights throughout.

Nguyen Tuan Anh closes in on a million

Level: 17 Blinds: 4000-8000 Ante: 1000

Nguyen Tuan Anh

Nguyen Tuan Anh has built quite the stack since the bubble burst and claimed a few more pots to drive his stack close to a million. One of the hands he raised to 16k and Paul Hong defended on the big blind. At the flop J A 9, Hong checked, Nguyen c-bet 22k and Hong called. On the 5 turn, Hong checked again, Nguyen bet 50k, and won the pot with Hong folding. Nguyen now sitting with around 960k.

Takeo Hanayama hangs in there

Level: 16 Blinds: 3000-6000 Ante: 1000

Takeo Hanayama avoided the rail in a hand against John Paredes. Hanayama had Q 10 and Paredes with K K. The board ran 8 10 7 Q A for a winning two pair and a double up with his very short stack.

Paul Hong rails Oeystein Nordii

Level: 16 Blinds: 3000-6000 Ante: 1000

On a turn board 5 9 7 6, Paul Hong bet 80k, Oeystein Nordii moved all in, and was called by Hong. Oeystein had J J over pair while Hong had Q 8 straight. The river K closed the hand and Oeystein was eliminated. Hong now up to 880k.

As he was shipping it in, Hong was heard saying, “playing like a fish, running good”.
