Duong Nguyen is on his third double up. This time he had 9♥ 9♠ and was up against Gao Li Chao with J♣ J♦. The board ran 9♣ 10♠ 2♣ A♣ 8♦ to improve him to a set.
Nguyen Duc Giao Linh moved all in with 10♣ 10♠, Kit Kwan Kwok joined in with A♥ K♥, and after one player thought about making it a three-way but folded, the cards were shown and the board came 6♥ 5♦ 3♦ 2♥ 9♥ for a nut flush to Kit. With a much larger stack than Nguyen, the field downsized to 23 players.
After Nguyen’s fall, Lars Jurgen also tumbled out of the tournament. Unfortunately we missed the action. He finished in 23rd place.
During one of the first shoves of the day, Duong Nguyen got lucky on Kit Kwan Kwok to stay in the running. Once again, lady luck or shall we say lucky duck shined on him moving all in with 2♥ 2♦ and was up against Tran Son Thach with K♥ 10♥. The flop came 10♣ 10♦ Q♥ for a quick trips to Tran but with the 2♣ turn, Nguyen jumped back ahead with a set that held wit the river 8♥ completing the board.
Players seem to be falling fast this afternoon. Another player bit the dust. Takao Shimizu had pocket jacks and Tran Son Thach with pocket aces. The board improved both with a set but still not enough for Shimizu to stay in the game. He bowed out 25th.
Immediately after the table break, down to 3 tables, Le Ngoc Khanh was sent packing. We missed the hand but prior to being moved, he was crippled down after doubling up Kit Kwan Kwok and losing a sizable pot to Wei Cheng Yin.
It was the end of the line for Head Hunter champion Tan Wah Meng. He was just eliminated in 27th place by Quang Phung. The hand saw Tan open to 24k from utg and Quang defended his big blind. At the flop K♠ Q♠ 6♥, Quang checked, Tan bet 32k, Quang tank-called. On the 9♠ turn, Quang checked again, Tan moved all in for 108k, and after a bit of tanking again, Quang called. It was a good call with Quang holding Q♥ 8♦ second pair against Tan’s A♠ 9♥ pair nut flush draw. The river 8♥ improved Quang to two pair to ship it and send Tan out.
Yuri Odagiri was dealt her last hand here at the Championships Event. She was all in with 8♣ 8♠ but couldn’t get past Cao Ngoc Anh’s K♦ K♠. The board ran 10♥ J♥ A♥ 10♦ Q♣. She fell in 28th place.
At one of the earlier hands of the day, Kit Kwan Kwok doubled up short stacked Duong Nguyen to put him on the border of shoving or folding. This time it was his turn to double up. Kwok stared down J♣ J♠ and was up against Le Ngoc Khanh with 5♥ 5♠. The board bricked.
A crazy all in just came down at Table 2. A flop 4♠ 2♥ A♠ was already tabled with Choong Kian Weng all in with 4♥ 4♦ set and big stacked Nguyen Van Canh with 3♥ 5♥ straight. The turn 9♠ and river 3♠ ended the hand sending Choong out first in Day 3.
