After losing to Michael Mariakis in a previous hand, Jojo Tech was back at it raising preflop trying to get the blinds/antes.
From the small blind, Tech raised to 110,000 and action was on Mariakis at the big blind. Mariakis tanked for a bit but would eventually fold.
Tech has around 650K after the hand.
Just returning from a short break, Linh Tran found himself engaged in a pot against John Tech that began with everyone folding to Tran who limped in the small blind. Big blind Tech was not going to make it cheap for Tran and raised it up to 110K. Tran smooth-called and they went to see a flop land 9♥ 10♠ K♦. Both players checked.
Turn: J♣ Tran checked to Tech who bet 70K and Tran flat-called.
River: A♣ Tran changed it up and led out for a low 60K but Tech would not bite and Tran won the pot.
Tran has 1.5M chips while Tech fell to just under 1M.
Current Chip Counts:
Tetsuya Tsuchikawa 1,250,000
Huy Pham 1,340,000
Linh Tran 1,310,000
John Tech 1,165,000
Michael Mariakis 725,000
On a raised pot on board of 5♥ 3♥ 5♠, Eric Sia shoved and got a call from Jojo Tech.
Sia was ahead with A♣ A♥ but Tech had his (heart) outs with 6♥ 8♥.
No heart on the turn 6♣ but it did give Tech additional outs. There was one on the river 7♥ though and Sia is out of the main event!
Sia is out in 6th place and goes home with over half a million pesos. Tech climbs to roughly a million in chips.
Tetsuya Tsuchikawa has crossed the million chip mark in a hand against the current chip leader Huy Pham. It began with John Tech raising to 80K from the cutoff seat and was called by Tsuchikawa on the small blind and Pham on the big blind.
At the flop of A♠ 3♠ 5♣, Tsuchikawa checked, Pham bet 100K, Tech folded, and Tsuchikawa flat-called.
At the turn of J♥, Tsuchikawa checked again, Pham bet 100K again, but this time Tsuchikawa acted different and raised it to 330K. Pham thought about his next move for a bit then folded while showing A♥ top pair.
With that win, Tsuchikawa now has 1,250,00 chips.
Michael Mariakis has been active the past few hands starting with a raise preflop and getting no callers.
However, on the next two hands, things would turn out much different. Mariakis kicked it off again by raising double from the cutoff seat but faced a three-bet by Pham on the small blind to 200K. Mariakis folded and Pham won the pot.
Immediately after, Mariakis raised again, this time to 85K, was three-bet by Tetsuya Tsuchikawa to 200K, which he flat-called. When the flop landed A♣ K♥ 5♦, Mariakis checked to Tsuchikawa who banged out 160K, good enough to take the pot as Mariakis folded.
Mariakis falls to 780K chips and Tsuchikawa increases to 930K chips.
Linh Tran opened to 80,000 preflop and Michael Mariakis and Huy Pham called.
Mariakis check-called a Tran 120,000 bet on a flop of 9♠ 6♣ 5♥ and both players checked the turn 10♣.
On the river 9♥, Mariakis check-fold again on a Tran 140,000 bet.
Tran shows pocket jacks and Mariakis flashes the pocket eights. Trans win a nice pot in the battle between two big stacks.
Michael Mariakis opened preflop to 65,000 and found two callers from the blinds.
Flop: 5♦ 9♥ K♦
Mariakis continued his story with a 75,000 bet and this time only Tetsuya Tsuchikawa check-called from the small blind. Huy Pham from the big blind got out of the way.
Turn: J♦
Mariakis was persistent, this time firing 125,000– enough to convince the Japanese to believe that he had something better in this hand.
Chow Mun Fei entered the day in the middle of the pack but after a big loss to John Tech in the previous level, he was unable to recover and took one final stand by shoving under the gun with his remaining 320K chips. Action folded all the way around to the big blind Michael Mariakis who asked for a chip count. After tanking, he called and it was a showdown.
Mariakis: A♥ 10♥
Fei: Q♠ J♦
With the board running 7♥ A♦ 4♥, Mariakis was way ahead and with the turn of 6♣, Mariakis sealed the win and Fei was eliminated in 7th place. The river of 3♣ was of no consequence. Fei earns PHP438,000 for his 7th place finish at the Main Event.
Mariakis climbs to 1,250,000 chips. He is running second in chips behind Huy Pham.
