Christian Ortanez was fighting for his tournament life in a hand against Ferlyn Cabaling. Ortanez had J♣ J♦ against Cabaling’s K♣ Q♣. When the board ran 4♣ 6♥ Q♠ A♠ Q♥, Ortanez bowed out as Cabaling was awarded all his chips.
Julian Hasse was awarded a sweet double up in a hand against John Beveridge which was pretty much an all in fest pre flop. Beveridge had J♥[jc} and Hasse had A♣ K♥, and with the board running Q♥ 3♠ 8♥ 7♥ 9♥, Hasse missed any partners to his hole cards but he connected with a flush to win the hand and scoop up over 200K in chips.
In a three-way unraised pot, the board ran 9♦ 6♣ 6♥. Angelo Felix led out for 16K and Julian Hasse, the player to his immediate left called while another folded. At the turn of 6♦, Felix bet 20K and Hasse called again. On the river of J♥, Fellix three-barrelled and made it 25K to play, but this time Hasse folded.
After doubling up Erick Marzan, Jester Intia took a stand with his 12K chips and Gerald Casey re-raised to 33K to isolate Intia. After the rest folded, it was a showdown with Intia holding 8♥ 7♦ versus Casey’s A♠ K♥. The board ran A♦ 4♥ 3♦ J♥ 5♠ and with that, Casey railed Intia.
Choong Kon Kim has just been eliminated at the hands of Calvin Tan in an all in fest preflop. Tan had Q♠ Q♣ versus Kim’s A♣ K♥. Tan won the coin toss when the board ran 10♣ 3♦ Q♦ 5♦ K♦.
Erick Marzan has just doubled up in a hand against Jester Intia. During the hand Intia found himself all in against Marzan pre flop with Marzan dominating his A♠ J♣ with A♥ A♣. The board ran 10♠ Q♣ 5♥ giving Intia an inside draw but with the turn of 4♣ and river of 5♠, Marzan climbed to over 100K while Intia fell to 15K.
Action folded all the way to the button, Georges Chehade who raised to 13K and Benjie Lim on the big blind called. At the flop of 3♦ J♥ 4♣, Lim checked to Chehade who bet 9K. Lim called and the dealer burned a 5♦ on the felt. Both players checked for a free look at the river of 6♣. Lim initiated the betting with a 20K bet but then faced a raise to 56K from Chehade. Lim folded. Chehade took down the first good pot of level 19 at his table.
Angelo Felix is one to watch out for here. After his pocket aces was cracked by Chiu Tzu Cheng bringing him down to around 3500 chips, he quickly doubled it up with A-5 against K-J. With around 10K to work with, he needed to double up again and found the spot to do so in a hand against Gerard Bringley. Felix had A-Q that held up against Bringley’s K-10. Later, he won another double up, this time against Julian Hasse when his pocket sixes bested Hasse’s pocket threes. With all those double ups, Felix climbed to 55K.
Now that was quite impressive…. there’s more….
Felix moved all in again, this time he was called by Trifie Montebon. Felix had 10♥ 10♣ against Montebon’s A♣ Q♦ for a coin toss. The board ran K♠ 10♠ 3♦ giving Felix a set and Montebon a gut shot. Then with the turn of 6♣ and river of 9♣, Montebon failed to improve and Felix doubled up to around 110K chips.
From the cutoff, Benjie Lim raised to 14,500 only to hear two player after him announce they were all in. Calling Brian McAllister was definitely not a problem with his short stack of below 50K but calling Jester Intia’s 115K was gonna take some thinking. Lim tanked then eventually folded and it was a showdown between McAllister and Intia.
McAllister: 9♦ 9♠
Intia: A♥ K♥
Board ran Q♦ 5♦ 5♥ Q♠ 6♦, giving McAllister a double up plus more which he celebrated in exuberance. Incidentally, Lim said he also folded A-K.
