APT Philippines 2022 II Main Event

One of the few remaining ladies in the field, Kim Boeum, was all in with Q♠ Q♦, Richard Castillo called with a sweeter A♣ A♠, no lady came to help Boeum to end her Main Event run.

2013 APT Main Event champion Czardy Rivera will have to hunt down that second title another day having just fallen to Federick Cruz. Rivera went all in for his remaining 10.2k, got called by three players to see the flop come 6♣ 3♥ 9♠. The blinds checked, late positioned Cruz bet 25k for a side pot but got no callers.

The turn 4♠ and river 4♦ completed the board. Cruz chipped up to 120k.

From mid position, Ashley De Guzman raised to 3600, cutoff Salu Mun Loong three bet to 8200, back to De Guzman who shoved his big stack. After a minute, shorter stacked Loong risked it.

Though Loong was ahead, the board had other plans as it ran 10♦ J♠ 6♠ 5♥ 4♠. De Guzman paired up to eliminate Loong. De Guzman chipped up to 142k.

On a raised pot preflop, mp David Rodwell and bb Denis Pisarev stared down a a flop 4♥ A♥ 7♣. Rodwell c-bet 4500, Pisarev check-called. On the turn 9♠ and river J♥ no bets landed. Pisarev mucked to Rodwell’s K♥ J♠.

All in preflop between two Japanese players Masahiro Asahi K♣ 5♣ and Ryota Opa A♦ A♣. The board ran 10♦ J♣ 4♦ K♦ 4♣ to end Asahi’s day. Opa chipped up to 64k.

Stunning turnout at table 5 with Jason Cooper sniffing out Justin Geronimo’s bluff. The hand opened with button player Cooper raising to 3200, small blind Geronimo called. Both players checked the flop 4♣ 10♣ 5♠. On the turn 2♦. Geronimo took a stab and bet 6k, Cooper called. On the river X?, Geronimo fired again, this time a huge 36k. Cooper tanked for some time then called. Geronimo showed his A♥ 9♦ bluff, Cooper claimed the pot with 5♥ 6♥ small pair. Cooper chipped up to 130k.

The most active player at table 3 is Yu Liu aka Candy Liu who was seen entering multiple pots within one orbit. One of the hands saw him three-bet to 9500, called by Dato Sri How Teck Hooi, then initial raiser folded. At the flop K♣ 2♣ 6♣, Liu c-bet 7k, Hooi raised to 18k, Liu folded while showin 10♣ 10♠. Hooi didn’t show but said he had Ace-King. Two hands after, Liu recovered the lost chips by sending William Ysmael packing. Ysmael shoved from the button with 5-7, Liu dominated with K-10 and stayed that way to the end. Liu up to 190k.

Here it is! With Day 2 seeing a rush of 85 entries over the two final hours of late registration, the official Main Event count came to 497 entries. This is the third largest APT Philippines Main Event turnout in history. With buy in at Php 55,000, the prize pool ballooned to Php 24,104,500 424,225), the top 50 places will see a piece of it.
