David Erquiaga paid off another short stack with Ryota Oda’s A♦ J♦ staying ahead of J♥ 8♥ on a board K♣ 9♦ 4♥ 7♣ 4♣. Oda up to 530k.
Eliminations 16th – 18th
16th | Kai Tse Lee | Hong Kong |
17th | David Rodwell | Australia |
18th | In Ho Song | Korea |
Satellite winner Kai Tse Lee turned his Php 11,000 buy in into a sweet Php 253,500 after running a deep 16th place. His final hand was quite the thrill with Joseroy Jeremias calling his shove, Kim Jun Hee shoving his last 395k, and Jeremias calling again for a three-way.
Lee Q♥ 10♥
Kim A♠ Q♠
Jeremias 9♦ 9♠
When the flop came J♠ 3♥ 5♦, Jeremias was still ahead but the turn 10♠ gave Lee the jump ahead, then with the river 2♠, it was Kim overtaking with a flush to ship it and send Lee out of the running. Kim climbed to around 800k, Jeremias dropped to 225k.
Marc Rivera has been struggling with a short stack for some time and at every push he found no callers. This time was different with David Erquiaga giving him a sweat.
Rivera A♣ 7♦
Erquiaga K♣ Q♣
The board was a dry 4♦ 2♥ 2♠ J♣ 10♥ for a double up to Rivera to 500k.
Having just eliminated In Ho Song, David Rodwell was all in with A♣ K♦ but ran smack into Bonifacio Mondalo’s A♥ A♠. With no help arriving on the board, Rodwell was eliminated in 17th place for Php 253,500. Mondalo rises to 1.4M.
At one point, Korea’s In Ho Song enjoyed a rise to nearly a million in chips but after losing several showdowns, especially a costly one to Bonifacio Mondalo, he risked his 6 BB stack with A♦ 6♠. He faced Australia’s David Rodwell with A♠ J♠. The board ran K♦ 7♣ J♥ A♣ J♣ for a full house to Rodwell and 18th place to Song. He earned Php 253,500 for his efforts.
On a flop 10♦ 2♣ 8♦ and 90k in the pot, two players found themselves all in.
Bonifacio Mondalo 9♦ 7♦ straight flush draw
In Ho Song Q♦ 10♥ top pair
The turn 3♣ was no help to Mondalo but the river 6♣ gave him one of his outs for a straight to ship a double up to 1M. In turn, Song plunged to 120k (6 BB).
By the last betting stage, Bonifacio Mondalo and David Rodwell built a pot over 300k in the middle and stared down a board J♣ A♠ 8♦ 6♦ 5♦. Both players decided to check this time. Rodwell had Q♥ 10♥ air, Mondalo shipped it with 8♥ 7♦ pair.
