Day 1b is all bagged up with 68 players remaining. We will have the official tally in the recap. Ho Bao Qiang rose to the leader’s seat in the final hand of the day with 269,300 in chips. Congratulations to all the survivors!
The last hand of the day was a big one with Ho Bao Qiang shipping in a massive pot. Here’s how it went down:
After losing multiple pots, John Tech was all in with his very short stack of 11k , Qiang called and so Inaki Santos on the bb seat. The flop ran 6♣ 8♥ 10♠ and it was checked for no side pot. On the turn of 2♣, Santos bet 13k, and Qiang called. On the river of K♦, Santos bet 30k, Qiang moved all in, and Santos called for his tournament life.
Santos 6♠ 6♦ set
Qiang K♣ K♠ higher set
Tech mucked. Qiang rises to the chip leader’s seat with 269,300 in chips.
Ho Bao Qiang and John Tech stared down a flop of 9♦ K♠ 8♦. Tech checked to Qiang who bet 7k and was called. On the turn of 10♣, Tech checked again then called Qiang’s 16.8k bet. The river of 5♠ saw another check from Tech but this time Qiang made it much more expensive with a shove bet of around 51.6k. Tech mucked.
With a pot of around 12k in and a turn board of K♠ 6♣ 8♥ 7♥, both Linh Tran and Kyoske Nakamura checked it and the river of 9♠ was felted. Nakamura checked again, Tran decided it was time to take charge, and he slid out a sizable bet covering Nakamura’s stack. Nakamura could only shake his head and fold.
Yoichi Uesugi just claimed another big pot. On a completed board of 10♣ 6♣ 9♠ 7♥ 9♣, he bet 35k onto a pot of over 100k and Seungu Kong surrendered his hand.
It was an all in situation at the flop of 10♥ 8♠ 10♠ with Redentor Edoc holding K♣ 10♣ and Ceesvin Abdulla with Q♠ 9♠. Edoc was ahead with trips while Abdulla was on draw. The turn of 10♦ secured the win for Edoc with quads. The river of J♥ was of no bearing.
Junko Hirai got all her chips in the middle and Seongsu Kong called.
Kong A♥ 7♦
Hirai 10♠ J♠
Board 9♦ A♣ 4♦ J♣ 7♥
Though ahead before the board, Kong improved to two pair to eliminate Hirai.
We have entered the last level of the day and so far Kimura Lee Jongyeol is the leader. He accumulated another pot in this hand against Lester Edoc. With a pot of 6k brewed preflop, the board came 7♠ 10♠ A♥. Both players checked. The turn of 2♦ had Jongyeol initiate action with a 5k bet. Edoc called. On the river of 3♦, Jongyeol bet 10k, and Edoc paid to see his hand. Jongyeol won with 2♠ 2♣ set. Edoc mucked.
Thomas Ward was on his second bullet and was looking to bag this pot but what happened instead was much like getting blindsided. On a turn board of 8♥ A♣ 10♥ K♠, Yoichi Uesugi bet 10,500 onto a very beefy pot in the middle. Ward responded with a shove of around 50k. Uesugi covered Ward and called.
Ward K♣ K♥ higher set
Useugi 10♦ 10♠ set
Although Ward seemed way ahead, the river slapped a wild 10♣ to improve Uesugi to quads. Ward was eliminated and Uesugi climbed to 160k.
