Marcel McGray raised to 8500 and got called by both blinds, Anton Del Rosario and Hajime Nakagawa. At the flop Q♠ A♥ 10♦, action checked to the raiser who slid out 12.5k. He was called by Del Rosario. On the A♠ turn, McGray bet 18.5k, and this time he won it with Del Rosario folding. Del Rosario showed his J♣ J♠ fold. McGray goes up to 185k.
Nakajima Shigenori has risen to the chip leader’s seat once again. While Andre Moracchini (entering level leader) lost some chips, at Shigenori’s table, he gained two pots with one of them sending a player to the rail.
The first pot was up against Kyohei Yoshizawa. Shigenori raised to 7k preflop and from the button Yoshizawa made the call. At the flop J♣ 6♦ Q♥, Shigenori continued with a 7k bet and was called by Yoshizawa. On the 7♠ turn, Shigenori bumped up his bet to 20k and still, Yoshizawa called despite his stack getting dangerously low. The river J♣ saw both players check and Shigenori won with his A♣ A♠.
The next hand Shigenori won was up against Kosaku Akashi. The board came Q♣ 3♣ 9♣ 5♣ 3♥ giving Akashi the nut flush with his A♣ 10♥ but it was still not good enough to beat Shigenori’s Q♦ Q♥ full house. Akahsi busted out.
Shigenori now at 415k.
Taro Kimura avoided elimination earlier with the river saving him with a pair against Ken Okada. Though still short stacked, he moved all in again on this new round and faced Kyohei Yoshizawa for his tournament life.
Kimura A♥ Q♠
Yoshizawa J♦ J♥
The board ran 6♣ 3♦ 9♣ K♦ Q♦ and with the lady gracing the felt on the river, Kimura once again doubled up to remain in the running.
Anton Del Rosario defended his big blind by calling a 7k raise by cutoff player William Ysmael. At the flop J♦ J♣ 10♣, no bets came and the dealer felted the 5♥ turn. Del Rosario checked, Ysmael bet 8k, Del Rosario raised to 16.5k, and was called. On the river 9♥, Del Rosario led for 21k and Ysmael paid up to see Del Rosario’s full house with J♥ 9♠.
Yukiko Ogasawara’s has just taken a beating at the start of this new level. The action kicked off with Shyh Chyn Lim raising to 7500, Ogasawara called, then Anthony Abram jammed all his chips in, around 92.5k. This induced a fold from Lim bu Ogasawara called.
Abram A♦ A♣
Ogasawara Q♦ Q♥
The board ran 2♦ 9♣ 8♣ 9♦ 7♦ and it was a double up for Abram while Ogasawara dropped to around 90k.
We are at the second break of the day, there are 25 players remaining. Top three leaders:
Andre Moracchini 434k
Shyh Chyn Lim 380k
Nakajima Shigenori 360k
Taro Kimura moved all in with his ailing stack and was quickly joined by Ken Okada who also had a short stack but not quite as low as Kimura’s.
Kimura A♦ 6♦
Okada A♠ Q♦
The board ran 8♠ K♦ 9♣ 7♥ 6♣ and with his lower card connecting for a pair, Kimura doubled up to around 65k.
There was a bit of discussion on table 2 after a hand had completed. Before we get to that, the action kicked off with Takao Shimizu raising it up double to 4800. He was called by four players. Everyone checked until the river 9♣ 5♦ K♥ Q♠ 3♦ which saw Chris Morrison bet 15k. Next to him was Anton Del Rosario with a 35k raise. The rest folded and Morrison flat-called. Morrison showed his hand A♠ Q♥ while Del Rosario tapped signaling Morrison’s hand was good and mucked his hand. This is where the discussion began and the floor was called.
With Morrison calling Del Rosario’s raise, players at the table expected to see Del Rosario expose his hole cards (open first) while Morrison, the player in the hand, didn’t ask. Del Rosario told the dealer to show his cards despite it having been mucked. He had 8♣ 8♠. The discussion on whether he had to show or not continued by the other players at the felt.
More players have fallen out of the running to downsize the field to 27 players spread out on three tables. At one of the tables, Andre Moracchini won a pot against Yohei Miura. Miura raised on the button to 7k and Moracchini defended his big blind. At the flop 4♣ 3♦ 3♠, Moracchini checked, Miura bet 8k, Moracchini raised to 20k, then took it down with no call from Miura.
