Past APT Main Event champion Iori Yogo has just tumbled out of the Main Event. He moved all in with 10♥ 10♣ and was called by Hoang Nam with A♦ Q♥. When the window card showed 10♠, it seemed like a good flop for Yogo, but the cards that came with it were K♠ J♥ for an instant straight to Nam. The turn 8♥ and river A♠ completed the board and with no further improvement for Yogo, he was out.
Two past APT Main Event champions went head to head with Hisashi Ogi needing to get lucky with his K♥ 10♥ against SJ Kim’s 6♥ 6♠. The board ran 2♥ A♥ 3♦ 8♣ and with a K♦ on the river, it was a double up for the Japanese champion. He is now at 125k which is still below average stack. As for Kim, he is the chip leader at his table and after doubling up Ogi, he is now at 450k.
Catching the action only as the dealer was shipping the chips, Quan Nguyen had 3-3 and eliminated Makayi Asif holding 4-3. The board was 2-4-3-2-8.
On a board of 7♠ 4♦ J♦ A♥ 9♣, Czardy Rivera bet 26k onto a splashy pot, was called by Nguyen Huu Ha and Julien Tran. Rivera quickly mucked, Nguyen turned over Q♠ J♠ but was behind Tran’s A♠ K♠. Tran now up to 300k.
We are just about through the first round of play and already numerous players have gotten the boot. According to the screens, there are 169 remaining.
On one of those bust outs, Duc Bien Nguyen was up against Okruzhnoy Alexander for his tournament life. The flop was 5♥ Q♦ 8♦ with both stacks shoved at this point. Nguyen 8♠ 5♠ two pair, Alexander A♥ Q♥ top pair. The turn K♣ was clean for Nguyen but the Q♠ improved Alexander to trips and he was sent packing early.
Here we go! Day 3 is here with 187 players returning to the field. Today they will play down to the final 27 players which means, we’ve got a long day ahead. The money stage begins at 111 players.
Good luck to all the qualifiers!
