Raised preflop by a couple of players, small blind Jeffrey Kat bet 800 on a flop of A♠ 4♦ 7♠ and saw big blind Brian Koh make the flat-call.
Kat check-called Koh’s 1,100 bet on the turn 9♥ and did the same on the river 10♦ for 2,400.
Kat tables A♥ K♥ and Koh shows A♦ K♦. The blinds and Big Slicks split this pot.
A cut-off player acted out of turn in raising 300 preflop. Before him, Felix Weis was given the option to just call, raise or fold and decided to just flat-call 50. The CO player was bound to his 300 raise, another player (button) made the call and when action went back to Weis, he re-popped to 1,100. The erring player from the cut-off threw away his hand and the button player made the call.
Flop: J♥ 10♥ 8♠
Weis bet 1,500 and the button called and the turn Q♥ was checked by both players.
On the river 4♣, Weis fired 4,000 but the button player still called. Weis showed A♠ A♣ and showed a nice play even with a player acting out of turn.
On a board of K♥ 2♠ 4♥ 7♥ 3♣, Kunal Patni bet small to lure an opponent into calling; the Indian pro showed K♦ 3♦ for two pairs and good for the winning hand.
One of the most active players in the opening level, Jun Javalera takes down a pot yet again in this hand.
From under the gun, Jun Javalera raised to 150 preflop and saw the CO player and both blinds call.
Flop: A♦ 2♥ 5♥
Javalera opened for 400, CO and small blind called and the big blind got out of the way.
Turn: 8♠
The small blind check-called Javelara’s 900 and the CO folded.
River: 6♥
CO player led out this time, to 3,000, which was called by Javalera, who showed 10♥ 4♥ for the baby-flush to win another nice pot.
On a board of 2♠ J♥ 3♣ 4♠ and a 2,500 pot– already big in this opening level– a cut-off player check-called Jun Javalera’s bet of 2,000.
The same CO player check-called Javalera on the river A♦ and was shown the bad news: Javalera had J♠ J♣ for the top set and he takes down the pot and his opponent mucked his hand.
Javalera becomes one of our early chip leaders climbing to around 25,000 minutes away from the opening deal.
Kunal Patni, who has already joined a few of the side events earlier this week, took one of the first nice pots this afternoon.
The Indian pro opened to 250 preflop and had two callers from both blinds. Dealer boards 3♣ 9♣ 8♥ and both small and big blinds checked. Patni C-bets to 500 and both blinds called again, bringing the turn 9♠.
Blinds checked, Patni fires the bigger 1,000– enough to force the fold from both players from the blinds. Not much, but a good start for Patni.
