Loon stops Zhang

Someone had to take action or else Weiyi Zhang would continue to railroad the table. That someone was Yah Loon who called Zhang’s raise of 80k. They both saw a flop of 10 3 10, and they both checked. At the turn of 10, Loon checked again, Zhang bet 80k, and Loon called. On the river of J, Loon changed it up and bet 280k which was good enough to stop Zhang who folded.

Chip leader Weiyi Zhang has really taken control of the table. After eliminating Le Ngoc Khanh, he won another good pot claimed a couple more shortly after. In one of them, Jun Javalera raised to 80k, Zhang three-bet to 250k, and as quick as that, Javalera folded giving Zhang the pot.

Next hand, Zhang raised to 80k and Javalera called. Flop was 6 6 3, Javalera checked, Zhang bet 100k, and it was done. Zhang claimed the pot.

Zhang continues with another win

Immediately after Weiyi Zhang eliminated Le Ngoc Khanh, he was at it again, taking down another pot. During the hand, Zhang called an 85k raise by SJ Kim and saw a board of 10 4 8. Zhang checked, Kim bet 90k, and Zhang smooth-called. At the turn of K, Zhang checked again, Kim bet 135k, but this time Zhang had something up his sleeve and check-raised to 300k. Kim gave it up.


Le Ngoc Khanh settles for 5th place – PHP821,600

The final table is now down to half with the recent elimination of Le Ngoc Khanh. Le was definitely one of the chip movers at the table entering as many pots as possible however, his deep run at the Main Event ended at the hands of Weiyi Zhang. In a pre flop battle, Le raised to 80k, Zhang re-raised to 210k, Le shoved over 600k, and Zhang called. Le was ahead with 7 7 but was in a toss up against Zhang’s A Q. With the board running A 5 K 8 2, Zhang overtook Le and eliminated him in 5th place. Le collects PHP821,600 for his finish at the Main Event.

Blinds have gone up and the five players are back to folding to the raiser. In one of those moments, Yah Loon three-bet SJ Kim’s 85k raise to up it to 230k. Kim folded and Loon shared his hand, pocket jacks.


Javalera becomes the chip leader with 2m

Not having won a pot in several orbits, Jun Javalera entered a pot with a three-bet to 120k on Weiyi Zhang’s raise of 60k. Zhang called and the dealer spread the flop of K 4 Q. Zhang checked to Javalera who rarely ever checks his option and this time was no different. Javalera bet 100k and Zhang called. At the turn of 2, action was the same with Zhang check-calling Javalera’s bet, this time of 175k. On the river of J, Zhang checked again, Javalera bet 300k, and Zhang made the call after tanking for a couple of minutes. Javalera won with his A K and climbed to 2m chips.


Yao Hui finishes in 6th place – PHP654,300 (姚辉遗憾出局!)

Yao Hui had a fantastic run at the Main Event but his goal was cut short by fellow countryman Weiyi Zhang. His final hand began with a raise by Yah Loon to 60k which was called by Zhang, then he, Hui, re-raised it to 200k. Initial raiser Loon folded but Zhang wasn’t going anywhere and matched it up. The board ran 9 4 5 and in a snap, Hui announced all in for 500k. Zhang obliged and it was a showdown. Hui had K 8 which was way behind Zhang’s A 9.The turn of A further improved Zhang and Hui was drawing dead. Hui bows out in 6th place and earns PHP654,300 for his finish at the Main Event.

Battle of the blinds, Le Ngoc Khanh limped in from the small blind and Weiyi Zhang checked on the big blind. At the flop of A 7 8, it was check-check. At the turn of A, Le took the reins and bet 60k which Zhang called. Then on the 7 river, Le was awarded the pot after Zhang folded to his 100k bet.
