Lebanon’s Edward Saab gets the much-needed double up in the first level today.
Dealer flopped 10♠ K♣ 5♠ and Saab was all-in (final 15,000 or so) against Richi Ko.
Saab: 5♥ 5♣
Ko: K♦ Q♦
Saab stays safe on the turn 4♥ and river Q♥ and he climbs to over 30,000.
William Te Jr. with 5♥ 5♣ was all in against big stack Ruth Graham on a board of 7♦ 2♣ 6♣ 5♠ J♥. Set of fives was good for Te, who stays in the main event with about 13,000.
Martin Corpuz can’t commit with his pocket tens postflop Q♦ 2♥ 8♥ after he bet 3,500 and faced an all-in of 12,400 from Ed Marcelo.
Shoji Shimabukuro just got crippled when Cho Youngwoo shoved for 14,175 and he called. Youngwoo showed 6♦ 7♦ for the straight on a board of 5♠ 10♠ 4♣ 8♣ 3♦ for the double-up. Shimabukuro dropped to about two big blinds after this hand.
Renan Morales shoved his final 17,000 on a board of A♥ J♣ 10♣ 7♣ and got a call from Roger Spets, one of the players with the bigger stacks entering Day 2.
Morales: 8♣ 4♣
Spets: A♦ 7♥
No pairing of the board on the river 5♥ and Morales doubles up to a more manageable stack of about 32,000.
One of the Day 2 chip leaders, Jun Javalera opened to 1,300 preflop and got re-raised to 3,500 by Douglas Olsson. Egor Dorofeev wanted more and three-bet to 9,300. Javalera called while Olsson got away from his hand.
Flop: J♠ 6♠ 7♥
Dorofeev shoved the final of his stack– about a dozen thousand– and it was enough to force the fold from Javalera.
Jun Javalera ousts one too.
Javalera isolated the short(est) stack entering Day 2, Koh Inyoung Soo of Korea.
Javalera: Q♦ 10♣
Inyoung Soo: J♦ J♣
Primed for a double up for the Korean but immediately the flop 7♣ Q♠ K♣ thought otherwise. Turn 9♦ and river 7♦ officially eliminates Inyoung Soo. Javalera starts strong again and is now nearing the 100K-chip mark.
Sung Jin Park didn’t get his ideal start in this Day 2.
Starting the day at 13,275, Jin Park shoved facing Jun Saito’s 1,300 preflop bet. Saito called.
Saito: A♣ Q♦
Jin Park: K♦ 10♣
Flop: A♦ 3♠ K♥
Turn: 8♣
River: 5♦
And Jin Park becomes one of our first casualties for Day 2.
As expected some jumped already hoping for a double-up but got the bust out instead. We’re down to 176 players. Still long ways from the 36 ITM but it’s a start.
