On the flop 4♦ K♣ 4♣, Christopher Mateo check-called Takahashi Makoto’s 1,500 bet. On the turn Q♥, Mateo wanted more and went over the top against Makoto’s 2,500 bet. The Japanese was at risk if he calls and he decided to fold to give the Filipino the nice pot.
Raised flop of Q♠ 5♠ 3♠, the UTG player check-called Jake Nguyen’s 675 bet. The turn 6♣ landed and once again, the UTG player check-called Nguyen’s 1,325 bet. On the river 6♠, it was the same story: UG checks, Nguyen bets 2,725 and his opponent called.
Nguyen shows 3♥ 3♦ for the rivered boat and the UTG player showed 8♥ 8♠.
First of the two 10-minute ceasefire for the day. There’s also a dinner break from 7:20 to 8:20 PM– which marks the deadline for the players to enter (and re-enter) in today’s Day 1B.
Camilla Samsing turned a flush and got a nice pot off it. The board already showed 7♣ 5♦ 2♣ A♣ when an MP player opened for 600 after the small blind checked. Samsing just flat-called and the small blind re-raised to 2,100! The original raiser folded and again Samsing just flatted. The river Q♠ landed and the SB player fires another 3,500… Samsing thought for a bit before decided to just flat-call.
SB Player: A♥ 2♥
Samsing: 8♣ 6♣
Samsing’s flush takes down the big pot and he climbs to over 35,000.
Henrik Tollefsen, the first and only two-time APT Main Event champion, and Markus Garberg, the most recent APT High Rollers champion have joined Day 1B. Both from Norway, these close friends are actually starting day today on the same table.
Minutes before the first 10-minute break of the day, here are our chip leaders thus far:

Cheng Cw – 41,000
Adrian Lim Yah Loon – 35,000

Cheng Cw remains one of the most active players (and winners) in Day 1B.
From under the gun, a player bet 1,000 on the turn K♦ 10♣ 7♥ 4♠ with the pot at around 2,500. Cheng Cw wanted more and made it 3,600 The UTG player called to bring in the river 5♠.
UTG player checked, Cheng bet 6,000 and his opponent called. Cheng shows A♥ K♣ for the top pair and top kicker and it was good enough to take down the pot. Cheng has now doubled the starting stack with around 40,000.
On the flop A♠ 9♣ 6♣, Jason Powers check re-raised an MP player’s 1,000 to 2,500. The MP player called while the other player in the pot got out of the way.
Powers went over the top on the turn 9♦ after a 4,000 bet from his opponent, who called for a big showdown.
Powers: 9♥ 6♥
MP Player: Q♣ 10♣
Powers needed to avoid a club and he did when the river J♦ arrived.
Norihito Suzuki check-called an opponent’s 2,600 bet on the turn from a board of 8♣ 5♣ 5♥ 2♣. The river 10♣ was checked by both players and Suzuki showed K♦ J♣ for the flush to take down the pot.
