About 10 minutes before the second break of the day, here are the rough estimates for some of our Day 1B leaders
Simba – 65,000 (From 32,000 two levels ago)
Mark Benasa – 55,000 (From 40,000 two levels ago)
Linh Tran – 55,000
Christopher Mateo – 55,000
The dealer already dealt the entire community 6♥ 9♣ 4♦ 8♣ 3♦ and Mark Benasa of the Philippines fired another 5,000 to the middle with already a nice pot against compatriot Edison Marzan. The latter called and was shown Benasa’s 8♠ 6♠. Marzan did not show his hand but claimed he had pocket kings.
With a big bot already brewing on a flop/turn of 4♥ K♠ J♣ 7♠, Jason Powers fired 3,200 to the middle and got a call from Daniel Lim.
River J♦ landed and Powers shoved his final 10,000 or so; Lim called, at risk with 6,200 left.
Powers: K♦ 9♦
Lim: A♣ A♦
Chip stack flipped for both on this one as Powers dropped to 3,600 and Lim climbed to 28,000.
Short-stacked Jinno Motoki held K♥ 3♥ and he thought suited king-rag was good enough for a shove when he faced a 500 preflop raise from the mid-position player, who made the easy call.
Motoki: K♥ 3♥
Mid-Position Player: A♥ 5♥
Motoki needed major help and the flop A♦ 2♠ 3♠ changed nothing for both players. However, the K♣ landed on the turn giving Motoki the two pairs and the river 7♣ confirmed his double-up.
Camilla Samsing opened to 400 pre-flop and saw very short-stacked Kim Enriquez move all-in for his final 1,075. The small blind doubled Enriquez’s bet to force Samsing out of the way.
Enriquez: A♥ J♥
Small Blind: K♠ Q♣
Flop 10♣ 2♣ 2♥ turn 3♦ an river 8♠ and Enriquez survives but still very much short-stacked.
Michael Falcon, who had 5♣ 5♠ made a set on the flop 5♦ 7♦ 4♥, raised to 6,000 after a bet from Linh Tran. Tran responded by shoving and put Falcon at risk if he calls. Falcon did call and it was the right one was Tran showed A♦ K♦.
However, the turn 10♦ gave Tran his nut-flush and the river 8♥ can’t save Falcon in this hand. Falcon busts out of Day 1B and Tran climbs to over 65,000.
On raised pot with a flop of 10♣ A♦ 9♣, the player from the small blind shoved his final 4,825 and got two callers including Jojo Allado. On the turn 4♦, Allado went-all in forcing a fold from the other player and isolated the player at risk.
Allado: A♠ 10♠
Small Blind: J♠ 8♣
River 5♥ can’t complete Allado’s opponent straight draw and the Filipino busts one from Day 1B.
Fresh off winning a big nice pot, Simba initiated preflop with a 550 raise and got four callers.
Flop: K♦ 10♦ 6♦
A mid-position player check-calls Jae Chang’s 1,275 even as the three others in the pot folded their hands.
Turn: 7♣
The mid-position player check-calls Chang’s 2,700 bet.
River: 2♦
This time the mid-position player checked, saw a larger 4,500 c-bet from Chang and folded.
Chang wins the nice pot.
In the land of the (small and big) blinds, it was Simba who ruled in the end.
The small blind player opened to 400 only to see Simba, from the big blind, re-pop to 1,500. The SB player wanted to show that he really has a strong hand and three-bet to 4,100. Simba called.
Flop: 8♣ K♥ 7♥
Both blinds checked.
Turn: 8♠
The SB player initiated again, this time to 4,000 and Simba just flatted.
River: 3♠
Really wanting to win this pot, the SB player shoved all of his 24,300!
Simba spent a good time in the tank before finally deciding to call.
Small Blind: Q♣ 3♦
Simba: 9♣ 9♠
Great call for Simba as the Korean climbs to over 65,000 and crippled his opponent, who dropped to 1,000 and busted out the next hand.
