Japanese pro Kosei Ichinose wins the High Rollers

Japan’s Kosei Ichinose was a late attendee to the festival but was still able to pull off a victory. Ichinose bested a field of 15 players at the High Rollers event, defeating Finland’s Jukka Jarvinen after a long heads up battle. He earned the largest share of the USD 29,100 prize pool and captured his second APT High Rollers title this year.

Sitting at the top were three leaders fairly close in chips, Bahrain’s Hesham Bucheery, Japan’s Junichi Nakagiri, and Philippines’s Terry Gonzaga. At the end of the tournament, all three were once again high at the top however it was Philippines’s Martin Corpuz who ruled them all.

Kengo Ohashi triumphs at the Deep Stack Turbo

Deep Stack Turbo Champion, Knego Ohashi

Two nights ago the last Deep Stack Turbo event concluded with Japan’s Kengo Ohashi overcoming a field of 44 entries. Typically these turbo events become crap shoots ay the end with blinds very high and players all on a shove or fold. This was no different. Ohashi defeated Taiwan’s Hung Sheng Lin at the heads up round with A 9 over A 6 on a board of Q 5 2 J 3. He claimed the USD 2,560 first place purse and a trophy to put on his poker shelf.

Japanese pro Iori Yogo wins the Six-Handed event

6 Handed Champion, Iori Yogo

There were 67 entries for the last side event of the series, the Six- Handed Turbo event. This generated a prize pool of USD 13,000 with nine players in the money. After a long bubble round, Japanese pro Iori Yogo knocked out two players simultaneously with his 9-8 turned full house on a board that ran A-5-9-8-8. He went on to close it out by denying fellow countryman Kohei Kawanishi (2nd) a second side event title. Yogo earned the USD 3,600 first place cash and the event trophy.
