Frederic Fauchereau wins Deep Stack Turbo 2; 32 survive NLH 2 P500K gtd

The penultimate day of the Asian Poker Tour Poker Weekend Series Manila 2016 kicked off with two events burning up the felt at the APT Poker Room in the Waterfront Manila Pavilion Hotel & Casino. The first one was the two-day NLH P500K Guaranteed event with two flights running, and in the early evening, the Deep Stack Turbo 2 event.

Deep Stack Turbo 2 Champion, Frederic Fauchereau

The first event to wrap up was the Deep Stack Turbo 2 with Frenchman Frederic Fauchereau winning the first place prize money of PhP73,700. There were 38 entries for this event for a total prize pool of PhP184,300. With a light field, action was quick and fierce, and in no time, the final 8 was reached and were set up at the RFID feature table. After the first player was dusted, Fauchereau eliminated two players simultaneously, securing a payout for the five remaining players. He then proceeded to rail Japan’s HIsashi Ogi in 5th place while Finland’s Jukka Jarvinen eliminated Japan’s Masaharu Oyama in 4th place. Despite the chip up, Jarvinen was ousted in 3rd place after losing two hands against Japan’s Ryo Kitagawa. At the heads up round, Kitagawa had the chip advantage but when his A-Q lost to Fauchereau’s A-8, the lead switched. The final hand saw Fauchereau win with A-9 over A-3.

As for the NLH P500K Guaranteed, it didn’t quite hit the mark for the required number of players so for those who attended and survived the day, they will be looking at an overlay in the prize pool. There were 122 total entries, 53 from Flight A and 69 from Flight B. There were 14 players who survived the first flight with the largest stack held by Filipino Harold Ruaya bagging up 110,200 chips. In Flight B, 18 remained with Korea’s Byung Il Park finishing with the largest stack and as the overall leader of the event with 153,300 chips.

Among the combined total of 32 survivors, several notable players were in the mix, Japan’s Iori Yogo, UK’s Samad Razavi, Japan’s Tetsuya Tsuchikawa, and Mike Takayama. You can view the chip counts in the APT Facebook page. Play will resume at 130pm tomorrow. The eventual winner will be earning the PhP123,800 first place purse.

Tomorrow is the last day of the APT PWS Manila 2016 with three trophies looking for its victors and two side events to close it out. The 6 Handed Turbo w/Antes gets underway at 1pm with an entry fee of P11,000 and the Hyper Turbo event at 4pm with an entry fee of P5,500.
