Day 2 of the Main Event Resumes; Simba and Tech Claim Trophies

The Asian Poker Tour Finale 2015 Main Event resumes today at the Waterfront Manila Pavilion Casino Filipino with 71 players out of the combined total of 169 entries returning to the felt. They will play either eight levels or in-the-money stage of 18 players, whichever is reached first. The total prize pool generated was P7,541,000 with first place set to pocket P1,927,000. Coming into the day as the overall chip leader is Arunas Sapitavicius from Lithuania who amassed 103,200 chips at the end of day 1a. Second-in-command is day 1b’s chip leader Korea’s Jae Chul Chang with 99,800 chips. Running a close third is local player Joven Huerto with 99,075 chips.

Among the qualifiers is Japan’s Iori Yogo who is currently in second position for the APT Player of the Year 2015 title. Leading the chart is none other than UK’s Samad Razavi, the reigning champion with three consecutive APT POY titles under his belt. Razavi has extended his lead quite a bit having already cashed in three side events namely, the Head Hunter event with a 14^th place finish, the High Roller Open Face Chinese Pineapple event with a 3^rd place finish, and the No Limit Hold ‘em 1 event last night where he finished in 7^th place.

Ante Only Turbo Champion, Jojo Tech

Last night saw two players take home trophies. At the No Limit Hold ‘em 1, a total of 54 players took to the felt, generating a prize pool of P785,700. Coming out on top was Korea’s Sim Jae Kyung who made a deal with Japan’s Yu Kurita. He earned a first place cash prize of P192,200 and the event trophy.

At the Ante Only Turbo event, 55 players heated up the seats with top Filipino poker pro John Tech rising above by defeating Japan’s Masayasu Tomiyama at heads up to claim the trophy and the first place cash winnings of P73,900. Tech jumped into this event immediately after bagging up at the Main Event.

Alongside day 2 of the Main Event are a couple of side events. The Pot Limit Omaha Hi begins at 3pm with a buy-in of P11,000. At 7pm, the highly popular WeLoveSport Deep Stack Turbo event will take place with a P5,500 buy-in.
