Championships Event Day 1B at 1pm; Linh Tran wins the High Rollers and David Chargualaf claims the NLH 1 Day

Running alongside the conclusion of the APT Philippines Championships 2018 Main Event last night were a few events, the Championships Event Day 1A, the final day of the High Rollers, and the NLH 1 Day event. We’ve got those results for you below.

Championships Event Day 1A

22 players signed up to Day 1A of the Championships Event with only 13 remaining at bagging time. By chip count:

All of these players advance to Day 2 which will take place on Saturday, March 31 at 1pm.

For today, the Championships Event will be back in the spotlight with Day 1B up on the plate. Buy-in is Php110,000. Don’t forget to sign up early and have your chips in play by the starting gun to be eligible for the Bubble Protection. This event will run a scheduled 8 levels of sixty minutes each, game time at exactly 1pm. Registration is open all day until Day 2, closing at the start of Level 10.

Linh Tran wins the High Rollers

Linh Tran is back in the winner’s light here at the APT. He bested the 75-entry field of the High Rollers event, coming from behind at the heads up round against Jun Obara. He landed a double up with A-8 over Q-9 on a board that ran dry. He later closed it out with Q Q staying ahead of K 6 on a final board of 3 8 2 2 5. Tran captured the Php1,959,800 first prize and the event trophy.

The High Rollers event had a Php107,500 buy-in for a Php7,275,000 prize pool. 13 players made the money. In addition to Tran and Obara, completing the top 5 were Marcus Garberg (3rd), Henrik Tollefsen (4th), Czardy Rivera (5th), and Eric Wasylenko (5th).

David Chargualaf wins the NLH 1 Day event

NLH One Day Event 2 Champion, David Chargualaf

Another winner also emerged last night, Guam’s David Chargualaf who tore through the NLH 1 Day event. He topped a sizable field of 115 entries, defeating Lee Chin Yong at the heads up round. This is Chargualaf’s first APT title and along with it was the event trophy and Php394,000. On the clear other end of the pay scale, his son Joshua Chargualaf finished in 20th place.

The last hand of the event saw Yong with 9 9 and Chargualaf with K Q. The board was Q 10 5 J 9 for a straight over trips.
