CHAMPIONSHIPS EVENT Day 1A ends with Lim Yohwan in the lead

The second featured tournament of the ongoing APT Philippines Championships II 2018 was today’s main entree at Resorts World Manila with the CHAMPIONSHIPS EVENT – PHP 8,000,0000 Guaranteed entering Day 1A. As witnessed at previous festivals, the event dragged in a tight field of notable players. 55 players forked out the PHP82,500 buyin with 26 remaining at bagging time.

Fresh off his victory at the CoinPoker High Rollers Single Day event last night, Lim Yo Hwan had the largest stack at the end of Day 1A amassing 219,400.

Another CoinPoker High Rollers winner also had chips to bag, Michael Kim Falcon. Falcon eliminated Tetsuya Tsuchikawa with his pocket twos improving to a set on the flop to overtake pocket fives. On the final hand of the day, Falcon no-look shoved and Mark Amparo called. Falcon also won that bout, doubling up with Q 6 over A-9 with a queen gracing the flop. Falcon closed with 130,100 while Amparo dropped to 40,700.

APT major titleholders making the cut were: Feng Zhao, Choong Kian Weng, and John Tech. Hung Sheng Lin also advanced. Midway into the game, Hung Sheng won a three-way pot against Marc Rivera and all in player Jae Hyun Lim. They all had top pair with Hung Sheng holding the best kicker, A-K vs K-8, and K-6. Late in the game, Hung Sheng railed fellow APT champion Linh Tran to eventually bag up 161,000.

Osmar Moraes was one happy camper after getting a stack boost courtesy of Gabriel Carter. On a full board 10 2 K 8 9, Carter tanked on Moraes’s shove then eventually called for his tournament life with Q 9 flush. Moraes turned over A 6 nut flush to send him packing on the final hands called of Day 1A. Moraes bagged up the 4th largest stack of 167,200.
