The APT Asian Poker Series Manila 2015 opened Tuesday drawing 281 entries in the lone side event, the APT-RWM 2M Guaranteed, of the day at the Resorts World Manila in Pasay City, Philippines.
After two flights—126 and 155 runners for Flight A and Flight B, respectively– it was Japan’s Iori Yogo and United Kingdom’s Sam Razavi, who came out on top of the heap for their respective flights and will enter Wednesday’s Day 2 as the chip leaders.
Yogo finished with 198,800 in chips while Razavi had 185,000 to earn the pole position in the race for the first side event title of this APT stop and the first place prize of PHP 673,200—the lion’s share of the total PHP 2,725,000 prize pool.
Out of the 65 survivors from both flights, only 36 will finish in the money with a minimum payout of PHP 19,100. The APT-RWM 2M Guaranteed Day 2 re-starts play at 1:00 PM.
Aptly, Razavi and Yogo are the top contenders in the APT Player of the Year 2015 standings. Entering the poker festivities this week, Razavi had 2,369.50 POY points while Yogo had 1,664.80 POY points.
