APT Manila 2017 in November

After nine Asian Poker Tour events held throughout the calendar year, we are slimming down to the final two legs of the season with the APT Manila 2017 kicking off on the first week of November. This upcoming event will see nine days of nonstop poker festivities running from November 6 – 14, 2017 at the Winford Hotel & Casino in Metro Manila, Philippines. As always, players can expect nothing less than an action-packed schedule featuring a PHP38,500 Main Event and 17 APT signature side events.

There are several reasons that make this upcoming event one of the most exciting legs of the season. For starters, there are two new games added: the Pot Limit Omaha Hi-Lo Split (Event 9) with a buy-in of PHP 7,700 and the Sit n Go by demand Open Face Chinese Pineapple with buy-ins ranging from PHP 22,000 – PHP 110,000.

Another reason of course is winning the most sought after tournament, the PHP38,500 APT Manila Main Main Event. This is the most prestigious tournament offered and it is the only event that awards the coveted APT Championship Ring. In total, there have now been 25 ring winners with Malaysia’s Sam Nee Aik Chuan capturing two of these exclusive silver bands. The Main Event runs for five days from November 9th–13th. There are two Day 1s, followed by Day 2, Day 3, and the Final 8.

In addition to the Main Event championship title, there are also 17 side event trophies up for grabs. The events comprise of the most popular tournaments offered by the APT such as the Main Event Warm Up, Head Hunter, PLO Hi, Monster Stack, NLH events, Ladies of Poker, and a slew of Deep Stack Turbos. Buy-ins range from PHP3,000 – PHP16,500. There will also be a High Rollers event with a buy-in of PHP64,500. Win any of these events, and you will qualify into the APT Game of Champions.

Last stop to qualify into the APT Game of Champions

Since the start of the year, the APT has been gearing up for its biggest player incentive tournament, the APT Game of Champions. This is one event not to miss as the APT will be adding USD10,000 to the pot! The only way to be eligible for this exclusive tournament is to win any of the APT 2017 events (Main Events and side events) or be one of the APT Player of the Series trophy winners. To start off the list, the APT granted one qualifying ticket to the APT Player of the Year 2016 champion and one to each of the APT Regional POY 2016 winners.

With the APT GOC coming at the end of the month, the APT Manila 2017 is the last stop to qualify into this event. If you have already qualified, then it is advisable to try and accumulate more qualifying tickets because the more you’ve earned, the higher your starting stack will be. The event will take place on November 29th – 30th at the APT Finale Macau Championships 2017.

Winford Hotel & Casino

For those that haven’t been to the Winford Hotel & Casino, it is one of the most luxurious five-star rated venues situated in the Greater Chinatown area of Metro Manila. The Winford officially opened in April this year offering casino table games, off-track betting, and sabong (cock-fighting). The facility is equipped with several restaurants including the most famous Choi Garden Fine Dining.

The Winford also has a fitness area, the Hippodrome bar with concerts performed by well-known local artists, a heated pool, and SM Kenko, a highly rated Japanese spa.

Nearby places of interest and entertainment

With the Winford located in the Greater Chinatown area, it is far from popular places such as Makati and BGC, however it is nearby Malate, considered one of the busiest towns of Manila. Travel time by taxi is a short 15-20 minutes, a bit longer depending on traffic. If you are interested in enjoying a night out in a fun town with a slew of bars and restaurants to choose from, then Malate has plenty to offer. Many Korean restaurants have also sprouted within the past several years.

A little closer to Winford is Intramuros, the walled city. If you have time to spare, taking a tour of Intramuros is recommended. The iron gates, cobble stone streets, ammunition chambers, dungeons, and guards in Spanish uniform worn during the times of colonization will surely bring you back in history. Other places of interest are the National Museum and Rizal Park.
