HomeToday is the last day to get into the Main Event of the Asian Poker Tour Philippines 2016 at Resorts World Manila. As announced, the buy-in for this event has increased to $3,300 and it is accompanied by a new and deeper structure, plus a 50,000 starting stack. The blinds escalate every hour, and play will run for eight rounds.
Implemented at the start of the year is the Main Event Bubble Protection. How this works is, if the player who bubbles at the Main Event availed of the protection, then that player will receive a free entry to the next Main Event of the same buy-in.Here are three simple steps to qualify for Main Event Bubble Protection:
- Pre-register for the Main Event
- Draw for your seat before the 1pm starting time
- Have your chips put into play on the first deal of round number 1
For today’s re-entry players, if you have already met the qualifications for Main Event Bubble Protection, you will maintain that status throughout the day. For yesterday’s re-entry players wanting Main Event Bubble Protection today, you will have to repeat the three steps above.
As always, the Main Event begins promptly at 1pm. Late registration / re-entry will be open until just before the start of round 7. We will be posting live updates, just head to the Live Reporting section of the website.
Recap of Day 1a
At yesterday’s day 1a, there were 84 total entries with 55 remaining at bagging. Ending the day as the chip leader was Germany’s Julius Malzanini with 176,800 chips. Other top survivors were Hong Kong’s Raiden Kan and Canada’s Linh Tran. You can view all the chip counts and some of the Day 1a action in the Live Reporting section of the website.

Side Events Results and On Deck
Head Hunter Champion, Bryan Huang
The Head Hunter $100/Bounty event was underway yesterday with the 8 remaining players looking to earn the $11,300 first place cash prize. Entering as the chip leader was Filipino player Edilberto Gopez but his run was cut short at 3rd place and had to stay on the sidelines to watch the heads up match between Singaporean pro Bryan Huang and Aussie player Geoffrey Mooney. Huang was clearly the man to beat. He dominated the table all throughout and even railed his own dad, Ng Yow Hui, in 4th place. In the end, Mooney could not overcome the pro and Huang was crowned the Head Hunter champion.
OFC Pineapple Shootout Champion, Lim Chung Kwang
At the Open Face Chinese Pineapple Shootout (36 max), there were 34 total players bringing the prizepool to $9,890. When the field dwindled down to three players, the match was tight with everyone at par with each other’s skill. Eventually, Taiwan’s Lin Hung Sheng had to settle for 3rd place leaving Lim Chung Kwang and Changhun Lee to battle for the title. The final hand of the night saw Kwang defeat Lee to claim the first place cash prize of $3,470.
Running side events today is the No Limit Hold ’em 1 Day Event starting at 2pm. Buy-in is $330. Then at 6pm, the Ante Only Turbo is on deck. This has a $165 buy-in.
