27 players advance into Main Event Day 2; Hailong Huang wins his second event trophy

Now that both APT Main Event starting flights are behind us, all the remaining players will be merging today for their next round at the felt.

Good morning everyone and welcome to Day 2 of the APT Main Event!

The APT Southeast Asia 2017 is on its fifth day at the DNA Star Vegas Resort & Club in Poipet, Cambodia with Day 2 lighting up the felt at 1pm. Only 27 players out of the 50 total entries are in contention for the championship title, the USD 19,380 first place purse, and the exclusive APT Championship Ring.

It will likely be a very tough battle at the felt today with highly decorated players coloring the lineup. The top three front runners are Day 1B chip leader Hong Kong’s Alan King Lun Lau, Day 1A chip leader and past APT Main Event champion Malaysia’s Choong Kian Weng, and China’s Hailong Huang who is on fire at the series with four side event cashes including a victory in two of them.

Other notable players also in the field are Aik Chuan, Sam Ng, Yoichi Uesugi, Tetsuya Tsuchikawa, and past APT Main Event champion Vietnam’s Linh Tran.

Today will see the contenders play down to the Final 8.

Hailong Huang takes down the WeLoveSport.com event for his 2nd trophy

WLS Deep Stack Turbo Champion, Hailong Huang

China’s Hailong Huang is having a fantastic run at the APT Southeast Asia 2017. Out of the 7 side events that have concluded, he cashed in four of them while reigning at two. Last night, he earned his second victory at the WeLoveSport.com Deep Stack Turbo event where he dusted 39 players to claim the USD 1,500 first prize.

Entering the final table of ten, Huang was once again the man in charge with his dominating stack. By the time the field was slashed in half, Kengo Ohashi bowed out in 5th place to collect the first payout of the event. With every single one of his opponents in the danger zone, Huang took advantage and successfully eliminated them one by one.

The final hand of the night was Huang with J 10 and Jian Su with A 9. The board shined on Huang as it ran 6 3 5 J 8.

In addition to his impressive marks at the side events, Huang advanced to Day 2 of the APT Main Event running 3rd in chips out of the 27 remaining players.
