Tristan Bain took down the inaugural Asian Poker Tour (APT) Sydney Main Event title and took home AUD $281,685 for his efforts in the tournament supported by the National Poker League (NPL) and held at The Star in Sydney, Australia.
Bain from Melbourne was third in chips entering the 9-handed final table but aggressively played all throughout the last day to notch the victory in a field that featured a total of 649 runners, the record for most number of players in a poker tournament in Sydney.

Bain continued being aggressive in the heads-up battle against Brent Nichols and the former got the big chip lead when his A♥ 3♣ beat Nichols’ Q♦ 10♦ on the flop 5♥ 4♣ A♦ even as the turn and river blanked. The rest was just a mere formality as Nichols had roughly 17 million in chips against Nichols, who was left with a little over two big blinds.
History was made in Sydney and Mr. Bain was on top of it. Congratulations!
