HomeThe sun is shining, the weather is clear, it is summertime! And that only means one thing, it is time for one of the biggest Asian Poker Tour events of the year, the highly anticipated and much-awaited APT Philippines 2016!
Starting Wednesday, April 13 until Thursday, April 21, the APT Philippines 2016 will be heating up the poker room at Resorts World Manila, Newport City, Philippines. This continued partnership marks the seventh year RWM has hosted the APT Philippines.
The nine-day poker festival will feature a $3,300 buy-in Main Event with the APT Championship Ring and the APT Championship trophy/title up for grabs. A very important change to be aware of, this Main Event starts you off with a 50,000 stack, and blinds at 100/200. As the levels increase, it eventually becomes a deeper structure than its predecessor. As introduced at the beginning of the year, the Main Event Bubble Protection incentive will be in effect for all those early birds. There will also be Main Event satellites running for anyone looking to land a seat at a much cheaper cost.
In addition to the Main Event, the schedule will be filled with all the usual suspects, a total of 19 exciting side events. This includes a newcomer, Event #17 Super Deep Stack Turbo with a $330 buy-in fee. Heading the torch for the APT Philippines 2016 is none other than the APT-RWM Opening Event $50,000 Guarantee. This is a two-day event with both of its qualifying flights running on opening day, one at 1pm and the other at 5pm. Entry for this event is $275.
The following days will feature events such as the Battle of the Nations, Ante Up for Charity, Ladies of Poker, Monster Stack, Head Hunter, No Limit Hold ‘em, Pot Limit Omaha, Open Face Chinese Pineapple, Ante Only , 6 Handed, and a variety of Deep Stack Turbo events.
There will also be three events for the High Rollers: the PLO High Rollers with a $2,200 entry fee, the High Roller OFC Pineapple Shootout (12 max) with a $1,100 buy-in, and the High Rollers (NLH) event with a $5,400 entry fee. All are scheduled to be a two-day event.

APT Player of the Year 2016 Standings
Since the start of the year, the APT Player of the Year 2016 race has been exhilarating with big names quickly occupying the top spots. After the recently concluded APT Daegu, the APT quadruple POY champion England’s Samad Razavi, has taken the lead from Japan’s Iori Yogo. Razavi has cashed 19 times with two of them earning him trophies. Although Yogo has fallen to the second rank, he still leads for Japan. Under the Korean flag, SJ Kim is ahead; for the Philippines, Christopher Mateo is several points in front of Lester Edoc; and for China, Bing Cui leads the standings.

Getting to RWM and to any of the listed hotels from Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3, there is a free shuttle at the arrivals area. It is a quick 5-minute ride. There are also taxis available. If you are coming from the other Philippine airports, airport metered taxicabs (yellow-colored taxis) are the suggested form of transport.
Tourist Information
For those looking to explore the vicinity, Resorts World Manila has everything a tourist needs. RWM is a casino resort offering a wide variety of casino games. There are also top quality restaurants to choose from, shopping, live music every evening, shows, and even cinemas.
Nearby RWM are two cities, Makati City and Bonifacio Global City. Makati is a bustling city with several big malls connected via walkways. The business district is located in Makati. BGC is a much newer and smaller city / inner city. Its popularity has grown tremendously within the past few years, especially when it comes to food and nightlife.
Additionally, it is summertime in the Philippines so expect beautiful sunny days and breezy evenings. The Filipinos are very hospitable and majority of the people speak English. The local currency is the Philippine Peso so make sure to have some handy when exploring outside of the poker room.
