Opening in style, the first side event, the RWM Poker Fiesta 2M GTD drew a large crowd totalling to 302 entries on opening day of the APT-RWM Poker Finale 2014. Flight A attracted 139 runners while Flight B added 163 more but only 78 survivors remain to battle for the title worth PHP 723,500.
From among those left, two players try to hold on to their big stacks and enter the final day; Arcie Mariano of the Philippines with 201,900 and Byung Il Park of Korea with 201,400. Completing the top five entering the action on Thursday are Terry Gonzaga (Philippines) with 163,400; Jan-Eric Schwippert (Germany) with 138,200; and Stevie Moon (England) with 106,000.
36 places are paid in this event and the remaining players will play down to the champion starting at 1:00 PM today, Dec. 4 still at the Resorts World Manila (RWM) in Pasay City, Philippines.
Still alive and kicking— although with relatively shorter stacks— are APT regulars and/or former APT champions Sam Razavi (England), Euryd Rivera (Philippines), Andrew Gaw (Philippines), Jun Saito (Japan), Maria Carmen Esdaile (Philippines), Mark Larson (USA), Michael Kim Falcon (Denmark), Norbert Koh (Singapore), Paul Hockin (New Zealand) and SJ Kim (Korea), among other recognisable poker pros.
The APT-RWM Poker Finale 2014 is scheduled until December 10 with the highlight main event starting on Saturday (December 6) for Day 1A and Sunday (December 7) for Day 1B. Other side events scheduled on Thursday (December 4) are the High Rollers event with PHP 108,000 buy-in starting at 1:00 PM and the Pot Limit Omaha Hi (PHP 16,500 buy-in) and Ante Up for Charity (PHP 7,500) events at 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM, respectively.
