Record breaking 603 entries and counting! Main Event facts and figures as we enter Day 2

Now that the three starting days are in the books, it’s time for Day 2 of the APT Kickoff Vietnam 2018 Main Event! What was once a highly enticing VND 3 Billion Guaranteed prize pool is now just a mere suggestion. Players may now be looking at a pot three times that size with 603 entries amassed so far. While we certainly would like to give you those exact numbers, registration is still open until the start of round 10 so we won’t have that official tally available until it has officially closed. For those entering, buy-in is VND 16,500,000.

As announced, due to the high volume of players for the Main Event, Day 2 has been divided into two flights: 1pm and 6pm. For flight assignments, you can head to our Facebook page to view the list. You can also check the full list of Day 2 qualifiers here. The list will also be posted at the Pro Poker Club. Only five levels will be played today. All the survivors at the end of Day 2 will merge tomorrow – Friday, January 26th – for Day 3.

With that said, let’s take a look at what we have lined up for Day 2 including all the fun facts and figures of this thrilling Main Event.

Remaining players: 321 players advanced to Day 2 making this the largest Day 2 field in APT Main Event history. That number may drop by just a handful due to several players with multiple stacks.

Overall chip leader: With a great deal of Vietnamese players attending the Main Event, it is not much of a surprise to see one of them claim the overall chip lead. That title was earned by Pham Thanh Dat with his enormous 454,900 stack amassed in Day 1B. Dat has a very healthy lead over the rest of the runners with his closest challenger, Germany’s Bastian Blumenrother at 288,200. Blumenrother was our Day 1C chip leader. Taking third position is Day 1A chip leader Vietnam’s Le Hai Anh with 286,000.

Late registration / re-entry: Registration will stay open until the start of Level 10. That gives players one hour to jump into the Main Event. Due to the two flights, players that bust out before the close of registration will be allowed to re-enter only on the same flight. Same rule applies for players forfeiting their stacks. Players will be given a 50,000 starting stack.

Day 2 starting blinds and average stack: Day 2 begins at Level 9 with blinds at 600-1200 ante 200. Blinds increase every 60 minutes. Total chips in play is 30,150,000. Average stack is 93,925. See booklet for the structure or click here.

Decorated APT Champions into Day 2: Scattered in the big Day 2 field are 12 APT past champions. All of them are hunting that prestigious Ho Chi Minh inaugural title, the APT Championship Ring, and of course the first place cash prize – which is shaping up to be a juicy one.

New starting day record: The highest starting day of an APT Main Event was set last year at the APT Championships Philippines 2017 with 272 entries for Day 1B. This record was broken last night with 286 entries for Day 1C.

New Main Event record: Also broken last night was the total number of entries. We are now at 603 entries and counting. Day 1A = 138 entries, Day 1B = 179 entries, Day 1C = 286 entries. We will have the official number later this evening. The previous record was at the APT Championships Philippines with 442 total entries.

ITM: With the APT’s revamped pay table of “1 in 6”, we are looking at a probable 100 players into the money round. We will have the official prize pool posted as soon as registration closes.
